In the interests of keeping things interesting, clear, and concise, I've made a few house rules and clarified a few points on Star Wars lore. They are the following:
House Rules- No character may earn Jedi levels until they have found a Jedi or Sith to train them in the ways of the Force; no character may take levels in Force Adept without a suitable trainer (to be discussed by the GM and player). Characters wishing to START as a Force Adept may do so, provided they discuss their training and force teachings with the GM and get approval.
- Players may play as droids using the rules detailed in the Revised Rulebook.
- Jedi characters must build their own lightsaber as part of their training; this will use advanced rules not found in the Revised Rulebook. To summarize, although it may be more involved, complicated, and possibly more expensive, Jedi will have the option of customizing the damage, color, and secondary features of their lightsabers to a greater extent than the normal rules.
Additional House Rules will be added as they are created and decided upon by the group or GM.
A Word About LoreThe history and written lore of the Star Wars universe has undergone a number of changes, revisions, and retcons since the 70s. These discrepancies range from mundane to major, and some aspects of the written lore have been received poorly by the fans for a number of reasons (ranging from the legitimate to the pointlessly petty). The lore of the universe is very important to a number of dedicated fans, and has been exhaustively detailed in numerous books, recordings, films, shows, and of course organized and collected into a very thorough wiki.
It is the goal of this game to provide a Star Wars adventure that is fun and satisfying from a story and gameplay perspective while staying true to the lore where possible. A full list of what varies from "canon" isn't ready at this time (since not every possibility for change has been thought up by me). As a general rule of thumb, I will change established facts about the universe rarely and in as limited a scope as can be managed, seeking to use the established canon where possible.
For example: in the original showing of Episode IV, Han Solo shoots Greedo. In the Special Edition of this movie, Greedo shoots at Han, misses, and is shot in turn (this is considered the current "official" canon). In this universe, were it to come up, Han shot first. This is done as a matter of personal taste and because it is considered a part of Han's history that makes for a better story than the official version.
In the event of conflicting lore and canon, I will try to rectify them where possible (and give a reason for picking one lore item over another where it isn't possible). This will be done in an effort to respect the various intertwined works that make up the Star Wars universe and to ensure that players that have read a novel or comic or watched a movie and particularly enjoy it's lore won't have to be "wrong" very often.
For example: the older expanded universe novels give several origin stories for Boba Fett. Episode II shows him as a clone of an Old Republic bounty hunter named Jango Fett, raised as the bounty hunter's son. In this game, the "accepted" lore is that Boba Fett is a clone of Jango Fett, and his adventures depicted in the expanded universe novels are a mixture of true events, exaggerations, and urban legends about him; Fett himself (as fitting his quieter nature) says little about himself or his childhood to clear up the matter.
