As it turns out, this is at least somewhat random. I think I understand now: A lot of stuff links to a common 'science' chain, and the program may or may not be lazy and favor established chains.

First time around, the Illiad went through that chain.
Then it was: Illiad- Interlibrary Loan-interlibrary loan- Library- Map collection - Map- Object- Object (Philosophy)- Philosophy

India has it beat.
No kidding.

I went "Kotragada Appanna" and it got stuck on Republic of India.

It should have went with "cricketer". That leads to Philosophy.

So, does it only use the first article link on the page? Or can it just use any link? If it's the latter, you could probably do the same with any page.

Only the first, otherwise it would... Well not be possible or take such a amazingly long time that no one would ever get the first link or it would have to be basically random.

try the kevin bacon hitler game. the idea is to start on  any page that mentions kevin bacon then try to get to hitler in as few pages as possible. after doing some research including imdb i found a two or three page solution (ant remember which)

It seems to pretend links exist that don't

IE: "Sealand" or "List of states with limited recognition" go for a while, then end, claiming to link to philosophy, on pages that don't.

I liked the Disney porn game; start on Disney.com homepage, and see how few clicks it takes to get to porn (defined as genitals/female nipples).

Best I did was 6 clicks.

What in the world possessed you to search through "List of US cities by population"?

And why the fuck do I remember what that exact page looks like!?

I didn't, that it the node next to it, right under New York City. It is covering up Kimberlite.

EDIT: Ok seriously, nothing shares the same little out shoot as Christmas. I keep clicking random, and it just stays there by itself.
EDIT 2: Swimming at the 1904 Summer Olympics – Men's 440 yard breaststroke
32 links.

Used to be much easier to get shorter links about a year ago. At least half of what those are. Many even shorter.
The most common link back then was
[Stuff] -> natural science -> science -> knowledge -> fact -> information -> sequence -> mathematics -> quantity -> property (philosophy) -> modern philosophy -> Philosophy

Tons of stuff rapidly lead to natural science or science.
Although I do like how Philosophy loops to itself in just one connection now, instead of the larger loop it was before.

I think I can tell why this is. Almost everything eventually leads to some kind of science, or to mathematics. Science leads to mathematics leads to philosophy.

Seriously, can anyone find a directly-linked page that isn't Philosophy of Mathematics? :/

Panpsychism and Reality, apparently. Also, philosopher:P

This is the weirdest transition ever:

Eidolon -> Eidolon (apparition) -> Theosophy -> Divinity -> Faith -> Trust (social sciences) -> Oxytocin -> Mammal -> Class (biology) -> Biological classification -> Organism -> Biology -> yadda yadda science, math, philosophy of math.

It's like "Religion, religion, religion, religion, OXYTOCIN!" lolwat?

All roads lead to science, but luckily you can get to philosophy from there.

I think it takes the first link on the page that you haven't already visited on the tree.  I was surprised to learn that "Dwarf" leads literally straight to US, thus making my branch from US and Dwarf very similar.

And as far as I can tell Sealand ends up on the human route perfectly legitimately.

Based on this, all things are science, but all science is ultimately math. Which is ultimately philosophy.

Longest chain I've found so far is 30 (Phags-pa), shortest is 2 (Boethius, an Italo-Roman philosopher).
