I really hope that toady fixes that when he starts working on the older bugs.

I've never really minded the free usage of adamantine strands in healthcare. That would surely be the dwarf's choice for sutures, right? And you can collect the strands after the dwarf dies, as they remain in the inventory, sewn into the bodypart.

I might adjust my views now that forge job requirements are fixed, though. Haven't gone for admantine in the new releases yet.

Dwarf Fortress- where a sudden mist that causes you to bleed from every orifice and drop dead is one of the better outcomes.

Now if only dentistry was implemented... adamantine teeth vs gold teeth.

Adamantine teeth would be horrific. Imagine how it'd tear up your enamel!

It isn't a bug. Adamantite is extracted as thread, suturers use thread, ergo suturers use adamantite thread.

Really, just smelt your adamantite as soon as it is extracted, or store it in a room with a locked door.

That sounds more like "how it currently works" rather than "how it's meant to work". Whether or not it's a bug I've no idea but I'd prefer the dwarfs kept their grubby hands of adamantine when it comes to suturing...

No, I think it's exactly how it's meant to be. Adamantine is extracted as thread. THREAD. You know, for sutures.

Binding a wound together with strands of adamantine itself - the very metal used to bind the forces of hell within their eternal prison - it's just as Dwarven as flooding the world with magma to kill a couple elephants. And if you're not happy with this amazing feature, as some have mentioned there are ways to prevent it from happening, you Elf :P

Not at all. To dwarves, thread is thread. Just because the player thinks healing wounds is less important than making swords doesn't mean that it is unreasonable for dwarves to use it for suturing. Incidentally, making it something other than thread (preventing it from being used in sutures) would also prevent the creation of adamantite clothing.

Pretty much this. Emergent behavior.

Armok above, think of how bad it would be though if dwarves selected materials to use based on preference...

That would be awesome. The eccentric doctor swears by cave spider silk, and will use it above other threads whenever possible.
