When did the new update hit YOU?

When did you realize the extent of awesome that this update has given. Fir me, it was when i was ambushed by 7 named night creatures and sucked the blood out of 3 of them, and killed the others with a mourning star. For some reason, right after that battle, my mind was opened to the true wonder that is DF2012.

Alternately when I first got weretortoise'd. It came later but it was the same feeling all over again.

When I first played the update, it went along nicely. No mist (sadly), I could ignore the rain and I smashed all the wildlife (and the zombies) to death with relative ease.

Then two W's appear out of nowhere and slaughter the three hammerDwarfs, and kill the other four emerging from the den, very, very surprised.

I was attacking a Midnight Ogre and got thrown to the ground. It strangled me and broke my hip and wrist. My crossbowcomrade shot the foul beast several times and eventually came up to it and started to beat the shit out of it. Its wounds from me and him stabbing and slamming its body were too much for it, thus, it died. I passed out from pain a second after. It then turned into a zombie, killing me and my comrade in a few turns.

When my fort got overrun by zombies EVEN THOUGH I was no where near an evil biome.

A were-tortoise attacked me and died to....the normal civilian it was attacking? WTF?

Later, I see a zombie, only one. I have no idea where it came from, so I killed it. Then, I see 2 later on, then 5, then 10, and I lost had fun.

I was very confused though, I thought Zombies only invaded in evil biomes. So I made an adventurer and went check my fort for evidence. Turns out, a Necromancer was in the area!  He next to my fort, down the hill on the west. I didn't see him in fort mode and there was no announcement.

he was pretty far from his tower; the closest tower was a couple of days walk to the north west.

When I wandered into a Marketplace and got attacked by some kind of Criminal who was just hanging around.
Then all the Merchants came to join in.
And We had a Mini-Riot.

I had a similar run-in with a were-civet. The game was keen to point out how fat I had become.
