I just had a short article published on IGM.

http://www.indiegamemag.com/how-indie-games-changed-my-life/

I hope this encourages other game dev's and people in the indie world to strive to achieve their goals!

I don't want to start a large discussion on either aspects of my life, or what I do. I want the aritcle to help others who are trying to make games overcome some basic barriers and get up and out there.

Trust me when I say this is neither a hubris article, and I can honestly say that posting it here is exclusively  out of respect for the great Bay 12 community, for people like Toady, Hemmingjay, and each

and every game dev who posts here.

THANK YOU ALL!

I have to say that I love the first comment you got. (I disagree with it, but still ... It made me chuckle.)

The gaming industry needs (more) people like you!

*edit*

The comment from misrata75 that is.

Oh, my. This is an incredibly inspiring article, and I'm glad you shared it with us. It's also quite heartwarming to hear how much of a boon the indie game scene has been for you, and I really don't know what to say other than congratulations. I feel an urge to resume work on my own two indie-ish game projects now. c: (if only I were at my desktop rather than on my bed, eh wot)

Shook, thank you so much for your kind words. I try my hardest, and only wish to give people the chance they deserve. I've seen some games that were truly stellar go sour due to this industry being little more than a mafia where people post games on their sales venue based on who you know. I try to remedy that without sucking people dry. I feel that there are too many outrageous "finders fee" chargers who go around making a living off of the devs who are completely at a loss as to how to get their work posted. Usually it's as simple as an e-mail or a cover letter coming from someone inside the industry, and these leeches go around charging up to 40 % for it. I do get that I do so at a loss, but I remember all the times I've been stepped and shat upon on my way up, and I can't do anything but do it for free. I don't think anyone deserves what I've had to deal with and if it's in my hand to keep it from happening to someone else, I do it GLADLY.

Awesome article, Alex. I'm in the process of trying to put together a successful indie gaming project, and it definitely gives me some hope to read a story like your own.  :)

Thanks so much Warrozo. Warrozo is the maker of an awesome little indie gem called Thanatophobia. I helped him out just a bit, but his game is truly awesome.
