I know this is a major long shot, but I've searched for hours now, obsessively. I can't leave something like this alone though. I don't really remember much of the movie, which is one of the reasons why I'm so interested in learning its name.

All I remember from it is it was about a kid and some guy who looked like a soldier from what I remember. I think he was wearing a beret. Maybe something in there about the kid's dad being kidnapped? I might be misremembering that part. I also remember that the soldier guy wasn't really real. I guess he was in the kid's imagination? For some reason, I keep going back to thinking this movie was one of those "movies with popular game in it" that the 80s were getting keen on using. I envision the Metal Gear sequel when I think of it, though I'm quite sure it wasn't that specific game.

One thing that stands out about this movie was a scene where someone (I think the kid?) rolled a die or two and the soldier guy was running from it? Something like that. Honestly, I was like, six years old when I saw it. The movie was likely made in the early 1980s.

I know this all probably sounds looney.
