King Arthur and Robin Hood are two of our deepest cultural touchstones, which Hollywood will not give up on until they have utterly wrung every last bit of enjoyment out of their charred husks. It's what Hollywood does.

I'm still more WTF that they've made a movie out of Battleship (which appears to have almost, but not quite *nothing* to do with Battleship).

Which could be good or bad, since cheesy "you sunk my battleship" lines can only do so much.

For, in order that men should resist injustice, something more is necessary than that they should think injustice unpleasant. They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.

The plot appears to be that Earth is being overrun by alien robots and only the USS John Paul Jones (which is a destroyer, not a battleship) and its crew of Liam Neeson, Rihanna and a bunch of people I've never heard of can fend them off.

The trailer looks like the worst excesses of the Transformers movies, amped up to 11.

King Arthur and Robin Hood. To me they were not remakes of our fav stories, they were Epic Dark/Medieval War and Battle scenes. This is how I processed them, nothing more nothing less. I keep my Stories in my heart but watch the carnage of men slashing at eachother with sharps swords with much glee...

This Snow White, so many times have I seen it "redone" with ways that ruin it, I ignore, I watch for Epic Battle Scenes, if this gives me that plus Dwarves, sold...

It's pretty funny that the most accurate retelling of King Author is Monty Python and the Holy Grail

For some reason I find this hard to find surprising.

As for the movie at hand, I can't stop imagining an entire movie based around the latter part of Depp in Wonderland; ie dumb but not surprising. I'm probably more irked that they couldn't just make a shitty fantasy movie on its own, and had to crib a well-known fairy tale's name and cram a bit of the premise in just to make it work.
