Stockpiling Fire Clay?
« on: March 03, 2012, 02:25:12 pm »

I've got fire clay on my map.  Got a regular kiln collecting clay and a magma kiln making bricks.  However, this involved my potter going all the way to the surface to grab the clay that's left.  I tried to make a stockpile for clay boulders, but it's permanently grey'd out.

Am I missing something?

It's under the stones stockpile. It works fine for me

EDIT: sry, but that's for red clay. Dunno about fire clay

Even though it's perma-grey, I think it functions just fine. I treated it like it was just a display bug and sure enough, my dwarves were dragging fire clay over to my magma kilns, way down at the magma sea level. Incidentally I was surprised by how valueable stoneware goods are, even without glazing.

Congrats, Psieye. This is the first time I've seen a derailed thread get put back on the rails.

I currently have a fortress where there is a lot of clay and fire clay, and so I use it for stoneware and earthenware. To stockpile any kind of clay, I just make a stone stockpile and disable everything, and it works.
