'Intruders! Drive them away!'
« on: March 03, 2012, 09:48:17 am »

I just got that message and when I zoomed in I saw a Dwarf entering the map. I am playing as a modded Skaven (Ratmen) race but I am not at war (no WAR or ----) with the Dwarves so I don't know why a dwarf would attack me. When I unpaused the game the Dwarf changed into an '@' and when I 'v'iewed him again he was a (Skaven)  Rathole Liaison. I had normal liaisons before with the normal message so I have no idea why he arrived in such a weirdly announced way.

What is supposed to happen when I get that 'intruders message'?

I also had a Skaven corpse (an earlier liaison killed by goblins) which suddenly reanimated itself without a necromancer or evil region nearby. This is the first time I play this version, but are corpses supposed to raise them self? The zombies (Hand, Head and Body) weren't hostile to nearby goblins either.

Intruders are something like necromaner ambushes. You will get them embarking near Tower. That one dwarf was necromaner. He reanimated that corpse. And corpses will reanimate some time after necros have fled, too.

Possible were-dwarf. Or an ambusher.

Ah, that explains the reanimating and why I've never seen that message before. The corpses were reanimated before the message came but that might be because the necromancer was sneaking or so?

Yup, necromancers can arrive in ambush, and still resurrect corpses whilst ambushing. Funny thing to note, if you manage to catch ambushers (which haven't stopped sneaking), you can watch them move by tracking them through door spam. Turns out, they're only spotted when a Dwarf notices them, or something's attacked. I've had Dwarfs walk right next to an ambusher and nothing happen

I just got this in my 34.06 fort, when I zoomed to the message, it went to my cage trap line, on the only entrance to my fort and I have a Human necromancer caged, I embarked with a tower neighbor.

So this human necro entered my map in ambush mode and was going to sneak into my fort to cause havoc but thanks to my trapped entrance corridor I got saved? what do they do when free?

and most importantly... how can I weponize my caged necro?  :D

Step 1: Create a battle arena.
Step 2: Arena is now refuse stockpile.
Step 3: Refuse stockpile now has a tied up necromancer in it.
Step 4: Tied up necromancer makes endless zombies.
Step 5: This is now the only way into your fortress during goblin sieges. Try putting the necromancer safely behind bars (Can necromancers cast necromancy through glass?)

I checked him on legends, he was kidnapped by goblins from a human town, settled in the dark fortress, started scouting the area around where he faced rampages from various beastmen, then he went in a journey to the depths of the world and tamed something there, he came back, became the law-giver of the goblin civ who kidnapped him, then became a necro and moved to a tower where he made many, many books.
The goblin civ got several new law-givers after him, mostly goblins and another human, the current one is a goblin. The goblin civ is a different civ than the one that sieges me in this embark.

This guy wasn't alone, he came with at least two other necros, these two are dwarves, interestingly they show up on dwarf therapist, one of the already fell into my cages, the other one is still ambushing somewhere...

Also a couple of kobold thieves got busted and killed and when my haulers were dragging the corpse, I got the a Report about the other dwarf necro rising the kobold and the kobold corpse starting to shake and: kobold corpse!! a couple of hamerstrikes and he was down again, though...
