You may have a vampire...
« on: March 02, 2012, 05:59:55 pm »

For those who are willing, a method for easily discerning vampires from dorfs (according to the wiki and my own experience):
As a migrant wave comes in, check each one individually, and if one or more of the following is true, you may have a vampire:

If it says "Bla bla has the appearance of being "x" years old", you may have a vampire.
If the blue text (was once a member of "bla", was once a member of "bla", etc) crits you for over 9,000 damage, you may have a vampire.
If the individual in question claims to have a spouse and child but arrives at the fort alone, you may have a vampire.
If the individual in question is involved in a murder (either accusing or being accused), you probably have a vampire.
If you can lock the individual away for months and months and they never get thirsty, hungry, or die, you DEFINITELY have a vampire.
If you happen to be fortunate enough to observe them feeding on a dwarf, you OBVIOUSLY have a vampire. (They will look like a red N with a tilde over it).

Feel free to expand/expound upon this list so that we can keep our forts vampire free, or the inverse if it suits our palette.

Also, if the civ the vampire is from takes sentient trophys, then the vampire will arrive wearing half a graveyard of bone and hair amulets and earings. Hope this helps.

Weeellllllll,

If you havent had a drink in the past two years and you're not crazy or chained up,

You just might be a vampire.

If every time you see a sleeping dwarf, you gain a level in biting,

You just might be a vampire.

If youve ever been surrounded by dwarves drowning to death at the bottom of the ocean,

You just might be a vampire.

If there are zombies everywhere and you dont know what all the fuss is about,

You just might be a vampire.

If the room you're sittin in fills with water and stakes keep poppin in and out of the ground,

You are about to be surrounded by vampires.

If you just brushed off 50 hammer strikes and went back to work, you might be a vampire.
