Place your bets, place your bets...
« on: March 02, 2012, 04:25:19 am »

So, just for the fun of it, in the standard world gen, I maxed everything out. Largest world, longest history, most civs, highest savagery, etc, etc.

How long do you think it would take to gen? Alternately, what year will it "crash" on :p As a benchmark, when adding the minerals, 46 fps, when adding the 260+ civs, 38 fps. Year 1 was at 35 fps, year 10 at 4 fps.

House odds on DF "crashing" "unresponsive" at year 156 :p

Letting it run overnight, will let you know if it crashed, if it's still running, etc. Place your bets! :p

It will finish generating just after Dwarf Fortress 1.0 is released.

50☼ that it has already crashed.

I'll bet one very cherished ☼sock☼ that a major war grinds the population down and gives the world a new lease of life after year 562, but you may have to wait 3 weeks to get there at 1 fps

Also, if you've got wooden furniture in the dining hall, you have some big issues anyways.
This is Dwarf Fortress, not the Fluffy Wambler Express.

Use the tweak in the modding forums for large address awareness - it lets DF utilize more RAM which will not speed up your game, but will give worldgen more breathing room and less likely to crash.

highest savagery should make your world actually easier to create since some civs don't create settlements in savage lands.

Around the 550 Mark.
I actually attempted this Myself, but to be fair, I had some other Programs running.

Yo dawg, I heard you like masterwork shirts, so I put masterwork in your masterwork shirts, so you can wear bling-bling when you wear bling-bling.
