Lava rooms

Er, if I put a bed beside an unopenable leverized inside door that connects the bedroom to the lava pond for my furnaces, will anything particularly bad happen?  Or is lava worthless as a room decoration/value?

This is mostly a method of dealing with nobles, and keeping them happy even if their room is a 1*1 cubicle.  They've also got a 40*40 chamber of smooth-tiled lava.  It's all theirs.   :D

Oh, and does lava do anything harmful to engravings?  I don't want to make my poor dorfs distraught.

Engravings on the floor seem to melt, whereas those on walls don't seem to melt.  However, smooth rock remains smooth.
