We should totally meet up at some point; I know you guys have a lot of great live venues so I'll be checking that out. Blarg, you guys doing any shows around then? That'd be cool.

Punk, Hardcore, some metal (not screamo) mostly.
I've looked up a few bands I know down there and there seem to be a heap of different venues. I've decided I'll definitely drag my friend along to at least one show at the Old Bar a day or two before his birthday.
Mammoth Mammoth is one band I looked up who sound awesome, and the day after that is The Kremlings who I've seen play once before, and they're supporting Bad Brains who are also pretty dang cool.

There is a place called the Prague on high street in thornbury that does decent punk/metal gigs as well.  (catch the 86 tram from the city)

I used to live in Perth. Compared to there, Melbourne is like a nonstop cavalcade of musical awesome.

Oh, just some bands you've never heard of. /hipster

Nah, in all seriousness, the grand majority of groups/musicians I listen to tour Europe or America but nowhere else. Or, as happened earlier this year, a number of my favourite musicians were in MELBOURNE, but I couldn't afford to go see any, let alone all. Royksopp was at BDO, Rustie played in something or other, Aphex Twin was at one of the performances, Die Antwoord at another, even the not-very-well-known Active Child, a chillwave group from Canada, was playing at the Footscray Social Club.

Now it's almost devoid of anything I'd listen to.

Midriff Explosion, sadly, having come fourth at the Victorian state final of the Emergenza Festival competition, have no concrete gigs scheduled at the moment. Regardless, I am down to hang out; no uni until Marchish, so mucho freedom.
