Melbourne Bay12ers Unite!
« on: March 01, 2012, 05:25:34 am »

So I was thinking, maybe we Bay12ers who are studying/living in Melbourne could meet up occasionally for a coffee or a good ol' fashioned DF sesh. :P

I'm currently studying a Bachelor of Biomedical Science, plus I'm travelling from one side of the city to another so it shouldn't be hard for me to meet up in the city.

There's some really cheap places to eat, as well. Like the Crossways restaurant, which is PERFECT for students ($5.50 for all you can eat vegetarian North Indian food) or there's a pizza shop on Flinders St which is great too. We could even meet up at Minotaur. :P

I'd really like this idea (plus I'd love to expand my circle of friends, which is looking rather shallow at the moment).

Depending on the date, I can probably make this happen.

For a DF sesh, though, I'm probably not qualified; I've not really played since 40d.

I'm not even a Sydneysider anymore.  :'(
I miss big cities. Anyway, sorry, but I don't see me being there in the near future.

DEFINITELY.

I was thinking this could be recurring. Dunno when though, uni's just started and we've already got a ton of work to do. :P
I'm *always* free on fridays, and i will have time on monday mornings between lectures.

Sounds good. Is anyone free this Sat? I work 9-5 as a PhD student (designing biomedical alloys), so weekdays aren't that good for me, and training for tough mudder means most afternoons are spent at the gym :/

Also if you like Indian, there's an excellent (and cheap) place on Bourke, right next to Parliament station; Green chilli from memory, maybe red chilli (theres two restaurants right next to each other with that name; its the one closest to parliament)

This sat? Unfortunately not. :S

And I always have preferred Crossways because it's really cheap... It's closer to flinders and hence about a ten minute shorter train ride for me.

FAKEDITREALEDITIDUNNOEDIT:

Osmosis? Biomedicine? I r pleased.
Also, tough mudder... I was planning on joining that, then I remembered I can't swim terribly well. If it were just cycling, I'd be perfectly happy to.

Ahh well, if you're ever in hawthorn, let us know, I'm at Swinburne uni most of the time.

...the swimming stages are like 50m tops, and you can skip em anyway. That said, it's too late now, unless you already happen to be hella fit :/

Yeah, specifically I am working on biomedical shape memory alloys for completely biocompatible implants. In practice I'm actually more materials science then biomedical though. Good fun mostly!

Yes, I'm quite out of practice with fitness. I can walk for miles and miles but running or swimming? Nope. Cycling? Out of fitness, haven't ridden my bike because of no money to repair it/get a new one.

I do sometimes travel through Hawthorn.

Well, how about the next one?  Ie, is it a one off thing, or every week?

Also, I should probably play the latest version... I last played 40d  :-[

It could be one off, or every week.

I was more thinking an irregular meetup, ie. when we're all free. :P

Same as Blargityblarg, I can't actually come out tomorrow, reached the end of my money. :3

I was referring more to the reason why we couldn't meet this sat, rather than the meetup myself... rereading what I typed, I can see the confusion though. I should stop writing when I'm tired :/
