EA have released details of the free game promotion for those saps (like myself) who purchased SimCity.

http://www.simcity.com/en_US/blog/article/for-our-patient-and-amazing-mayors-a-free-pc-download-from-origin

Battlefield 3 (Standard Edition)
Bejeweled 3
Dead Space 3 (Standard Edition)
Mass Effect 3 (Standard Edition)
Medal of Honor Warfighter (Standard Edition)
Need For Speed Most Wanted (Standard Edition)
Plants vs. Zombies
SimCity 4 Deluxe Edition

I either have those in some form, or don't want them. Yay. :-\

Is it possible for you to claim Dead Space 3 and give it to me?

>_>

I mean, if you don't want any of those games but you have the ability to get one and feel generous...

I've given a lot lately, and received nothing in return! I'm not even sure the code will be transferable.

Damn, the games they offer are better than I expected.

They are all games they already tapped out. Anything they already had saturated sales on is viable.

In fact these free games will probably make them more money as people who buy them will make their other friends buy them.

Exactly.

DF doesn't mold players into its image - DF merely selects those who were always ready for DF.

Minecraft UI is very simple. There's only so many ways you can implement "simple" without copying something. We also gonna complain that it uses WASD?

Exactly.

Also, they're all Standard Editions (for the larger games), which means they can expect to rake in a small additional fortune on the DLCs that they won't be giving away with them.

I've a few games in my Steam inventory I might be persuaded to part with. I can always buy another copy.

To be truthful... I kinda liked Black and White 2 for that. >_>

I just kinda liked how beautiful cities looked after you worked on them and they got quite large. Too bad the rest of the game wasn't such.

If they made a black and white city building game... I'd probably buy it.

Honestly I am really happy about this. It POSSIBLY means there won't be a mandate for Social aspects in all their games.

Having Played The Sims 3 and bought every expansion until seasons, the social aspects added to the game in both Superstar and supernatural are soo shoehorned in that they might as well have never been added to the game.

which sums up my oppinion of the forced social aspect.

Yes... Social aspects can improve a game, they can be the best feature of the game. Yet when you force it in there inspite of its design you just make halfhearted content... and halfhearted social aspects are worse then none at all.
