More seriously, if the beta lags that is a good indication that the full game will also lag. Though lag is probably the wrong term, I'm assuming from your post that you're not a native English speaker so we won't quibble.

On that note though, do we know if SimCity has a seperate executable for 64 bit? Or are we still limited to 4gb of RAM (Thats including making it large address aware manually)

Given how native 64 bit games are taking a while to catch, I assume x32 version only is a safe bet. Which would be a pity given simcity is exactly the kind of game that would benefit of extended memory allocation.

I really want that one as a "when". I want "grubs", and "virgin woman" to turn into a dragon. and monkey children to suddenly sprout wings. And I want the Dwarven Mutant Academy to only gain their powers upon reaching puberty. I also have a whole host of odd creatures that only make sense if I divide them into children and adults.

Also, tadpoles.

Just went to play Diablo 3 for twenty minutes, but the server was down. I don't know if I want another game where I have to depend on the servers being up for me to play single player.

I never understood why single-player would ever be anything more than offline. Single-player is designed to play offline, whether it's because your internet isn't working, you don't have internet, or you're sick of playing games that require you to be online all the time.

What's the point of playing a single-player game if you have to be connected to the internet for it to work anyway?

It's so they can more easily force social integration.

Sadly, it appears that some companies got the notion that word of mouth still works even if it's an automated message that their program made up for you.

Well, for Diablo 3 it makes some sort of sense because of the auction house and the ridiculous rampant hacking that happened in D2. On the other hand, you could just as easily solve the problem by marking characters in multiplayer based on whether you played them offline or something like that and....

Let's just leave this argument alone. It's been done so many times that I can argue convincingly for both sides and it's really boring.

The release date for Sim City 5's coming up sooner than I thought (March 5th). March might be the month I get back into games that went big franchise with both this and the new Starcraft 2 expansion coming out.

The moment the lever was pulled, somebody's pet kitten stepped onto the bridge. I read somewhere that if a cat falls more than 11 stories, it instinctively flares its legs out to increase air resistance. This slows it down enough to stick the landing with relatively minor injuries. In Dwarf Fortress, apparently, cats don't do that.

I have to say, despite one or two cool features (I like the building add-on system, for example), I found the Beta rather annoyingly small in terms of the city size limit. It felt more like you were building a village or town over a city, and as such certain buildings (like sewerage treatment, power plants etc.) seemed to feel out of place.

I would hope that, in time, city sizes would be increased closer to the levels we know and love in previous SimCity games. I fear not, however, and as such you're left creating a few specialist towns as opposed to one large city.

Wow i was hyped real bad about the game... But started reading about what EA made to kill the game... Always online, save on server, small region/town. no modding support at launch ( DLC whore bitches ). Heck even the pre-order packs are making me sick. And they cry they are loosing sales.... I really hope one day courts will rule something about company like EA....

Anyway game mecanics seems lovely, graphics are nice, the simulation behind the game is marvelous but with all the shit hitting the fan..... Im turinging back to citiesXL, less *simulation* but frack city size are nice, and i dont need to be always online, Omnicorp can provide me what i need and my save are on my frigging computer.

Minecraft UI is very simple. There's only so many ways you can implement "simple" without copying something. We also gonna complain that it uses WASD?
