I think he just means free-placement of roads not on a grid.

I hope it's not linked to my request for a refund. I never did a chargeback. But all my games have disappeared from my Origin account.

Well I guess it's time for a chargeback then(in case they don't fix it)

Keep us posted!

After waiting for chat, they fixed it. No problem. That was very strange considering the timing.

So, is there any word of more servers being added? I'd like to make a city on a local (EU West) server but they're all full to newcomers :(

Might as well just go on another server, Simcity isn't exactly a game where your ping is gonna affect your game.

What about all the calculations done on the server to run the game on my local machine?

There are none.

The online component limits itself to DRM, and city interaction. (Which, AFAIK, is of little importance, and doesn't need to be updated every frame)

So, could we have built a subset offline mode? Yes. But we rejected that idea because it didn't fit with our vision. We did not focus on the "single city in isolation" that we have delivered in past SimCities. We recognize that there are fans – people who love the original SimCity – who want that. But we're also hearing from thousands of people who are playing across regions, trading, communicating and loving the Always-Connected functionality. The SimCity we delivered captures the magic of its heritage but catches up with ever-improving technology.

Catches up with it and apparently surpasses it to such an extent that the technology crumbles, weeping, to the floor.

I just had a conversation with Cleverbot about SimCity.

User: So is online mode necessary for Sim City to run on my computer?

Cleverbot: Yes, I do have feelings, and I'm not a computer.

User: Really?

Cleverbot: You didn't understood. You have to learn more.

User: Well, let's move on then.

Cleverbot: Sure .. Where to?

User: Did EA just hold back on giving us larger cities to package it all in a DLC that we will have to purchase in the future?

Cleverbot: See? You ARE a great poet. And a very intelligent one, too! =) I am in awe.

User: I feel that you are not really answering the question.

Cleverbot: Really? I love learning about new cultures.

User: One last question for me today.

Cleverbot: What is it?

User: Did EA/Maxis know that this game was this broken before selling it or were they as shocked about the brokeness after release as all of us?

Cleverbot: You are right. Balthazar didn't betray Castiel. Balthazar tried to save Castiel.

So it looks like EA's debauckle is so dumb it affects your intelligence.

All we need now is a Peer review and we have scientific evidence.
