Re: the map:
I think the barbarians make a neat concept, it's just that they need to be more active.

Anyone up for one? I can run or play.

What was your plan for that longboat and barge, anyway? Couldn't figure out what you were trying to accomplish, there.

The original longboat was going to sail down the top to get to his city. The new stuff was a revised version of the plan with me not knowing how screwed I was.

I kind of feel like running a match, so if you can find someone (or two someones) else to play with you, then I will make the map.

It wouldn't have ever really worked, during the time it took to get to my city, I could have built three longboats, and put multiple pikemen in the city in the time it took you to get there.

And yeah, the barbarians were too stable. In order to beat them you had to invest a significant portion of troops, and even if you won, your enemy could swoop in and take it.

The barbarians were a map balance error, then. I didn't want to change the base gameplay too much by adding wandering barbarians, but wanted something to make the game last a bit longer while still being on one continent. I think I should've added more trash terrain in the north.

How was the rest of the resource distribution, particularly the food quantity and limited horse pastures?

Going to use the 0.1.1 rules? I decided Nirur was probably right about unrestricted pastures being a bad idea, so I added horses as a tile resource that requires a pasture to work.

It was fine, the limited horse pastures were a nice touch I thought.

Or I would totally be willing to play in another game with redwarrior instead of hosting (since it seems no one really wants to play against him).

I would also be willing to run nirur and vanigo's game.

I've added a minimap to the corner, which is pretty useless for the games that have been run so far, but it'll be very helpful on a larger map. You can click it to refocus the map, too.
