Author Topic: My AoR-style game is now in alpha! (test games running, may start another)  (Read 38820 times)

A heads up for anyone who's been interested in my Age of Restoration games: I've been working on a PBEM/PBP video game along the same lines, and I've finally gotten the main engine complete. There's very little content at the moment - that's my next task - but you can check out what I've got in this thread over in Creative Projects. Go take a look!

The above is outdated. The game is currently in a playable state. In this thread I'm running test games - currently two, but if enough people want to help I'll start another.

After some more development, I've reached the point where I think it would be worth having a few extra pairs of eyes on the rules and mechanics to make sure I haven't made any particularly unfun design decisions. As such, I'd like to invite everyone to check it out, and I'm thinking I should probably set up a little test game to see how things go. Any takers?

Any other takers? I'll start rigging up a map.

Edit: Here we go, a basic 1v1 map. I can add more people easily enough, or just start a second game if more people want to jump in.
Grab it here. Your turns should be short enough to fit inside a spoiler block with no difficulty.
(Oh, and I'll change your country names and colors for you if you want.)

I think you mixed up the links to the player and admin interfaces in the Creative Projects thread.

It's mostly intuitive, but my resource list being behind the 'players' button is confusing.
Build a mine at empty plains tile? No. Thank you for your input, now building mine at empty plains tile.
It might be nice for the tile improvement message to state what the tile will produce after the improvement's done, once you get around to adding polish.

So I figured out the basics, how do I load just the orders though, and not the entire game state?

Also, how many squares can you claim/what is the cost?

I too wish to help, that is, if you still require it.

I think Vanigo broke the link even worse, and now the player interface is inaccessible by that page.
It's one square per population unit, and we each start with four free population units.

Excellent, a third person should make the battlefield more dynamic.

Gah. Okay, try now. If it doesn't ask you to select a player after loading the game, try clearing your cache.

Azthor, I'll go change stuff to add you to the game. Nirur and Quinnr, I'll leave your stuff where it is, so your turns should work fine on the new map.

Edit: Okay, new game state is up. While I was at it, I gave you enough stockpiled food to not starve before turn 1.

Setting an improvement you chose to build to 'no improvement' doesn't remove it..I just deleted the code out of the above, so that I won't have resource shortages.

You can cancel orders from the players->orders window. I probably should make that cancel improvement build orders, too, though.
