Try to make an advance in agriculture, as Maku Maku was unable to do so in his life (after big fat party).

The Chieftan is dead! Long live the Chieftan!

1. Party to celebrate an honorable death.
2. Work towards agriculture.
3. Find better weapons-grade metals.

Bronze and iron are equally useful for weapons and tools.

I was unaware we had found tin.  But yeah, make sure everyone is working with the highest quality tools possible.

To my knowledge we haven't. So I suppose start surveying for any metal. Tin though, would be the most helpful at this point.

Ah, yeah, to clarify: Bronze or iron (strong metals) would be useful for making both tools and weapons.

This is a dwarf fortress forum, you shouldn't have to clarify that at all, or really even discuss it, hell you shouldn't have to discuss that ANYWHERE.

What I was trying to say was to have a surveyer keep on the lookout for tin ores and other but mostly tin, but that really doesn't make sense if the islanders have never seen tin before  :D. Slipped my mind.

I was clarifying an earlier post that could have been misread as saying that bronze and iron are equally useful (for tools and weapons), which is not true.

You are right. Bronze is better. Doesn't rot and is uniformly stronger. Makes better arms and armor. Makes amgnifacent tools for mucking about in, like hoes, rakes, junk like that.

I think you mean rusts, but other than that your right. But the major advantage of iron is that you don't need expensive tin to make it.
