That should indeed be 5:00 PM on Friday. I am at GMT -6, and I start at 4. Ignore the fact that I said this started at midnight earlier in the thread. I was horribly wrong. If you ever need to figure out a time zone conversion this is good.

Bad news. My desktop's internet connection is utterly crappy right now due to a problem with an adapter (which I cannot replace right now), meaning I have to use my mac (what? it was free) for hosting...Shouldn't be too bad.

On that note, is it normal to make a map for every single setting in Maptools or do I just wing it?

Some people wing maps and do it well, but it can ruin the feel of the situation if you do it wrong. If you're going to make the maps yourself I would do so before the session, and only wing it if you need to.

Personally I think you should use the power of the internet and grab some premade maps since this game has been out for a while. I haven't looked, but I'm sure there are plenty of encounter maps. If you need to tweak some maps it's easier than building one from scratch.

Generally, from what I've seen, it's best to use Premade maps for

Cities
Planets
Boarding Actions that involve PC's (Hell you could use alot of the space hulk custom maps and various others, and add onto them)
Ships (Might prefer to work a general template and than make a main one for the main player ship yourself)

The one's that I've seen that aren't that great:

Things that involve nature (Seriously, I can't find good natural looking premades at all)

Mostly you can use premade's, I don't mind them at all. You can simply mix/match/and fix things up if you don't like the premade exactly.

Speaking of maptools, I only have the Dark Heresy Module, is there one for RT that we're using?

I have to ask, which book contains the information about the world? All I can find is a few paragraphs scattered in the books. I improvised a fair amount of things. Let me know if something isn't possible. It's still incomplete, but we're also suppose to know each other as well, so I'll leave it open for now.

...Which world?

Also the common Imperial citizen has little to say about the 'heresy' of the Mechanicus. Oh, and the warp eye wasn't made by any one house.

He meant the odd looking Vertical Mutation of the standard Warp Eye, made by his specific renegade house along an odd mutation branch. It's not that they made the Warp Eye itself per say, but probably the variant his Navigator house has specific to it. Somehow I figure it's somehow more heretical.

Ah, guess that makes sense....Wait. Fool, do you mean universe? If so, then the lore is scattered around the books. Try the lexicanium site.

Yeah. It makes sense for the most part. Also Navigators are not considered mutants in the normal sense, their family lines are very old and powerful, the navigator genes are deeply established. But of course the houses do work on them with selective breeding. A renegade house might take some more extreme steps.

Also worshiping the Omnissiah is a little odd, but not that much. The only thing that does not make a ton of sense is people hating you for doing so.

I'll just go to a wiki site for lore about the game. I'll cut the bit about him being stopped from worshiping since it doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

Don't Cult Mechanicus members have arguments with Emperor worshipers over the validity of the Emperor/Omnissiah as a god? I figured that Yorke wouldn't back down from something like that. I suppose that it wouldn't matter enough for them to stop him from worshiping the Omnissiah openly. It still gives a general idea of what the character went through before joining. I'll build on it some more if people start posting their own backstories.

Well there's the odd Inquisitor and zealous priest that try to curb the Mechanicus, but no one really does mostly because it would be like shooting yourself. The Mechanicus after all, provides forgeworlds and 'modern' technologies.

The issue being he's not exactly a tech-priest, an enginseer, or anything relating to the Mechanicus to provide benefits, he's a normal navigator from a renegade house.

Not to mention that it doesn't have to be the Inquisitors or the priests doing so, it could be the common man fearing technology, or the "bastardized" ways the Mechanicus does things, and does not care what he does so long as he does what he does for the emperor. Or it could have been because of his home having strong ties to the Ecclesiarchy previously. After all, it can take just one Oratory priest to rise up the masses in a major blood frenzy against those not relating to the Church, which has happened several times within the books.

I should have asked this a long time ago, but does anyone else have a backstory? Might be able to cook up a better plot if I knew more about the Explorers.

I'll start up the IRC. Most of us are online, or likely to be online soon.

EDIT: IRC closed. We'll just hold one in about 17 hours from this edit. So around 7:30 PM GMT

No. Such a thing would cause a holy war that would rend humanity so far that even if ether side (most likely the cult of the emperor) managed to pull a victory they would be unable to avoid death at the hands of the xeno and heretic threat.

Also in many places the Emperor is the Omnissiah, so there is less conflict then one might think.
