Also supplant biodomes for vertical greenhouses (with UV floodlights) and it will give people something to do, be with plants, and get some fresh food out of it too. As well as a nice tan too I'm betting. Plus saving horizontal space.

Gorillas use sticks to get ants from hills. Not chimps. Chimps can be taught to use tools when given to them but cats can be taught to flush the toilet, I don't see the difference in that. If you give a monkey a sharp stick it doesn't immediately deduce a good way to use it like stabbing an enemy monkey. They usually fling it.

Tell you what. I'll meet you half way. We send down the dudes but instead of diplomats we send biologists to get a feel for their intelligence and ability to form ideas. The description is human-like intelligence. That's both chimps and humans and everything in between.

I don't usually put "good use" and "stabbing" together, but well.
Fact is that, they do. chimps use sticks to get ants, among other uses.

Animals use tools, yeah. But I've never seen an animal make a tool, or use a tool to make a tool better. It's always found objects, they don't make the stick better, if they can't find a thin enough or long enough stick, they don't try and make one.
