For me, it's got to be Lavender Town. I love Ghost Pokemon, and something about the purple fog and the music creeped me out in a pleasant kind of way.

Sadrith Mora. The architecture and personality of the town amazed me. Telvanni are bastards, but you join them anyway just to get a magical plant  tower powered by the souls of tortured daedra. Port Telvannis as well if mods count.

This thread actually makes me totally retarded and forgetful of what games I've played that have cities. D:

Llothanis, from Tamriel Rebuilt. Seems like such a calm, pretty place. Actually, most of TR's cities make me want to build stuff in Dwarf Fortress.

Yah, it sounds like minecraft with content, you have obviously missed the point, people dont like content, they like different coloured blocks.
Seems to work fine with my copy. As soon as I loaded the human caravan came by and the world burst into fire.

I haven't heard of most of those cities :(

So I'll go with New Reno. So many things in one place.

I liked most of Skyrim's cities, as in the way everything fit together, but they weren't particularly fun.

I may have to retract Zozo as my favorite city. Because I remember Lea Monde.

The city from Vagrant story encompasses everything about medieval cities and fantasy that is good. Temples, abandoned buildings, an under city full of undead, mines, a magical forest and of course, the Cathedral. Everything about the city spoke to its character, and I've never seen another video game city pack so much content into it, and have it all logically work together.

Lungfishopolis. (Psychonauts:P

Also, I preferred Ald'ruhn to Balmora. I mean, half of the city is housed in a freakin' giant landcrab shell!! How cool is that?

From the Ultima series, I was always partial to Britain, because it seemed the most like a real medieval town.

Lessee, what else....

Needles from Wasteland.
High Mountain Village from ADOM
New Haven from Borderlands (a bit unfair, since it's really the *only* town with more than one non-hostile inhabitant in the game)

Haha, Lungfishopolis was pretty epic.  I couldn't stop myself from laughing through pretty much the whole thing.

The NPC dialogue in that level is awesome.
"We're saved! It's Kochamera! Oh wait...no, it's Goggalor."
"Oh no, it WAS the orphanage - for dogs!  It was the puppy orphanage, everyone!"

Garoh from Golden Sun TLA. Mainly for its great soundtrack that along with the town creates an amazing atmosphere. Golden Sun has had some great towns in general; Bilibin from the first game and Belinsk from Dark Dawn for example. A large part of making these towns memorable is the outstanding GS soundtrack, I think.

I also like The City from Mirror's Edge, how it is so impersonal and strictly over designed embodies the tone of the backstory incredibly well.

Finally, I'll have to second Clock Town from Majora's Mask.

I've never really payed attention to the towns, but the first one I can think of is San Salvacion from ace combat 4, fourth and best of the series.

I always liked the "City" in Thief Dark Project and Thief Metal Age, medieval design but with the serie special touch (leading into some steam punk part in the Metal Age), City is full of an insane amount of various intrigues, quarters, factions, underground and surreal things going on that town.

I'd have to say BALMORA! Or Mournhold. Balmora I just know my way around it, and Mournhold? I can be an actor!
