Creative mythology: post at will.
« on: February 26, 2012, 04:52:16 pm »

I am unsure whether to call this a Creative Project or a Forum Game, but I'll provisionally call it a Forum Game. that  seems more likely. The point of this is to write a mythology, that evokes in style Genesis or The Neverhood Chronicles. I'll start.

Before the world was made, there was only one, and It was called Gordneth. And Gordneth stood alone, and was all there was. But Gordneth became bored, so It thought of something. It thought of a high mountain, and lo! a mountain formed before It. And it thought of rivers, and lo! there were rivers flowing from the mountain. And so Gordneth was no longer bored, for It had something to look at.

Eventually Gordneth wanted more to look at. But the mountain obstructed Gordneth's view. So Gordneth dispatched one of his only two eyes into the top of the mountain, creating Kordmai, the seeing spirit. In Kordmai's infancy, Kordmai wept, and formed rivers atop the mountains.

Gordneth had not anticipated that a beast would be inhabiting the mountain.A beast so terrible that even the vilest of beings are afraid of speaking. The beast would corrupt Kordmai.

The corruption of Kordmai became such that Kordmai began to wander. He traveled east, and light followed him, and eventually He came back over the mountain. And that is how the days and nights began. But Gordneth still wanted to be able to see beyond the mountain when Kordmai drew the light away, so He removed His other eye, to follow Kordmai, and thus Kordfalmai, the dark-seeing spirit, was born. And Kordfalmai traveled over the mountain when Kordmai was gone, and left when Kordmai came back to the mountain.

From the cycles of Kordmai and Kordfalmai an awesome energy formed into a thoughtless yet wise entity, Teptra the great wind.
Teptra began to circle the mountain, churning the rivers into great waves that spread across the lands, moving the waters into the arid vacuums that became the oceans.

The great beast which corrupted Kormai started to slumber.
The snoring of the beast quaked the lands, forming canyons and ravines.
Gordneth who had yet no knowledge of the great beast
was deeply concerned about the noises and decided to investigate it's source.
In the meantime, Kordmai, Kordfalmai and Teptra was left to their own devices.

As Gordneth got closer and closer to the Mountain, A large amount of Wind Became coming upon Gordneth.
But this was not Teptra, It was the same as Teptra, but not Teptra.
This Made Gordneth Peculiar, And Drove It Into the Source of this artificial Teptra.

Deep inside the mountain slept a beast from elder years, a Dawn Titan, first of all things. It's name was Ragele and it was the Titan of rage and destruction, cursed forever to sleep until some unfourante god woke it up.

It was Ragele's presence that corrupted Kordmai, and Ragele's snores that opened the canyons. Of this, Gordneth knew naught. And so, Gorneth, opened a path into the mountain, and traveled deep into the earth, and there found Ragele. But Ragele sensed that Gordneth was there, and so he spat red fire, which flowed like water, and Gordneth fled. the red fire followed gordneth out through the path in the mountain, and flowed onto the ground. But lo! the red fire cooled, and became as rock, but still Ragele spat, and the pressure, like wine fermenting in a closed jar, pushed off the top of the mountain, and the sky was filled with falling fire and ash. But soon Ragele forgot his anger, and returned to his sleep. But Gordneth wept for the ground, which was covered in ash, but his tears, as they fell, grew into many trees, and plants of all kinds.

And Along with this, The Plants in the Canyons that were flooded were forced to Adapt, And Became Sea and River Plants.

The changing plants drove themselves to great length for survival, sprouting Ilyerian, the ever present nature goddess. A young Ilyerian was frightened and ran, spreading seeds and fruits across lands yet unknown, forming forests and trees, spreading life to distant islands.

Some of these seeds fell into the ocean, and sprouted plants belonging to the water.  From these plants sprang Odreth, lord of the oceans.  But Odreth felt that the oceans were dull, for the plants only occured in very shallow places, and only at the seabed, so from bubbles and plants, he created the first fish.  These fish were a variaty of colors and shapes, and soon spread throughout the entire ocean, and some found their way into rivers and lakes.

In Ilyerian's flight, her green robe tore on a stone, and grew into Yagayan, the Lady of Life. She knew that the plants of her mother Ilyerian would spread spread out of control, so from the grass she created deer and cattle and all that graze. But she knew that these would soon eat up all of the plants, so from the body of a buffalo, she created lions, bears, and all who must kill to live, and so the growth of the world became stable.

Odreth saw these beasts, and was intrigued.  Taking some of his fish, he changed them, so that they would live some of their life on land, and some in the water, creating frogs and similar creatures.  One day, Yagayan came to a lake where Odreth was sleeping.  When she saw him, she gasped, and instantly fell in love with him.  Hearing her gasp, Odreth awoke, and was taken by her beauty.  As a wedding gift, Odreth seceretly took a tortise, and gave it amazing swiming abilities.  This was the way in which the turtle was created.
