[The following is a continuation of the Barbarian studying adventurer's journey. Perhaps Forgotten Beasts are not simply mindless killing machines? This was written on a whim and a stroke of bordom. Enjoy my odd writing style. Pardon it if it sucks, and since I lack Microsoft word on this thing, I did my best hunting down the typos.]
You sit up, a feeling of uneasiness having disturbed your sleep. While there is nothing around outside, you decide to check the cave. You grab some of the extra firewood you had piled nearby and leave a string of torches as you head deeper in. You'd fought in the caverns before, even felling a beast of pure flame, So why were you so apprehensive? Your question to yourself was answered as you came into an expanse of the underworld, and were met by the terrible sight of two things:
A great monster known as Avuus Ramwatch, a beast you'd intended upon hunting down and killing for the trouble it had caused a nearby settlement some weeks ago. The fell monster was in the shape of a gigantic ant with dragon's wings and babrbed stinger. Battling it was the visage of a truly gigantic Spawn of Holistic Warrior, many of it's smaller fellows torn to shreds or showing large puncture marks, indicating that Avuus had held them down and dealt a deathblow to them. Were those things evolving? no... They couldn't be, they're demonic abominations to the gods, not natural creatures that change over time. And yet, here stood proof of them changing. But why? As you stared at the fight lost in though, you see the terrible ant thrown bodily against a limestone pillar and snap to your senses And prepare for battle. The megaspawn seems confused for a moment, as the ant lies motionless before it, then it'turns it's attention to you. The hairs on your neck stand on end as it lets loose a terrifying roar, and you instinctivly raise your flambard. This was probably the end for you.
The monster rushes at you, it's imens size giving it the ability to cross a great deal of ground, but you duck a swinging claw that pulls your helmet off your head as you slice into the abomination's achilles tendon. Even as your blade clearly tears through it's flesh and hide, it remains stand and tries to stomp on you, only for you to reward it with a swordpoint through it's other foot. It begins to fall, nearly crushing you under it's imense bulk. As you ready yourself to climb onto the thing and destroy it's heart, you are bowled over by Avuus, who had fiegned death and waited for this chance. The monster manages to clamp onto it's neck, and brings its stinger into the lower body of the megaspawn, but it seems furitless as the beast grabs Avuus and slams it against the ground, managing to whell it's other claw over in a crushing blow, causing the giagantic ant-thing to roar in pain and bite into the monster's wrist and sever most of it from the arm. You sieze your chance and climb atop the spawn and drive you flambard into it's chest, desperatly trying to kill the behemoth, but miss the heart each time as the two great horrors thrash about. Finally, in a fit of rage, you toss your blade aside and simply smash your shield into the beast's great maw until you finally hear a crack and are almost deafened by it's horrible screech.
At last, the megaspawn releases Avuus and falls limp. You know you've struck a killing blow. You roll off the corpse, trying to gain your bearing and find your sword before Avuus gets to it's feet to kill you in your rattled state, but when you turn to face it, it is simply staring at you with it's compound eyes, and you notice that it seems to... Nod to you. You stare at it in confusion as it turns and flies off deeper into the caverns. Then you realize, Avuus had spared your life. it could have easily killed you with a single sting while you were blundering about for your flambard, and yet it didn't. That nod was quite possibly a challenge, though one for another day. You manage to catch one last look at it's form flying into a deep crack in the cave wall, and you know the time for battle has passed. It saw you as a worthy opponent, and deserving of a rest before you fight again. Perhaps these things are not simple animals?

You Manage to find your torch trail out, and after a suffle with tow zephyrs and a kobold who were rummaging through your loot, you decide it best to move on and continue to climb the clife to find a mountain pass, and hopefully a way out of this area.
EDIT: And now...... Dun dun da daaaaa! Arts!
