Okay... I'll restate it.

Stocks - Stocks are a certain percentage of ownership in my company.
Assets - Anything that can become money. Money equals money, so money is money (Kinda like Xykon said.)
Stock price - Stock price is 100% based on supply and demand. The reason people buy stock is twofold. One, to get dividends of my profit, and two, because they hope other people buy stock, its relative value goes up, and they can sell for !!profit!!.

Face value - That's $0.0002
Market value - That's the price people will eventually pay.

Trust me.

Cash == assets.

:/

If cash is your only asset, then the company would have an extremely low stock price, forever. It would be stupid to do that in this case.

Ok - I will be totally reworking the company system for tommorrow. I tried to make it simple but you guys want it more complex  ;D

Employees - dont worry, youll still get jobs  :P

Main additions will be - Machinery and factories/research labs etc. (assets!)

Resulting in more realistic stock prices.

Hold off on the company plans until tomorrow!

Cause they're kinda part of my employment plan >.>

I'll be waiting. (...Gosh, I sound like the villain.)

1000 is abit more reasonable! I'm trying to keep the numbers low so people dont have to add up huge sums of money.
*To begin anyway, stock splits will be ok.

This is basicly a brand new economy in a world which has never had inflation. Ever.

... 1,000,000 is MOAR reasonable! Because if I have 1000 stocks, each one is worth $0.005, and I just promised King 100 stocks, meaning I indirectly paid him $5... a huge huge amount.

And that's why a loaf of bread is $0.0001, because no inflation.

"Hey bill just picking up some bread."
"That'll cost a hey penny"
"A.. wait what?"
"You have to give me a hey penny"
"I don't have one"
"Then no bread for you."
"but.. wait.. I how am I suppose to feed my family?"
"Get a job"
"I'm a smith"
"Then get some hey pennies for your tools"
"couldn't I just get the ore I need and give my tools to the people who need them?"
"But then you couldn't afford my bread"
"but.. like I helped build your stove."
"Yes and I gave you free bread, now it costs a hey penny"
"I don't.. I don't even know what that is."
"Me neither but I need one to pay my dentist."

@King

The 'brand - new- economy' taken to extremes. An economy just popped into existence!

That left me laughing and my family looking at me weirdly.

Also, I'm a 'she' :P

@Deadmeat
It's because Bay12 has more than your average batch of people, and some of them actually learn the formal study of many things. Like biology (see Evolution thread with 50 or so pages).
And some get a general idea of how things go but decide its too tame and insert laws of their own.

So, I can haz my stockz? :P

I know people are intelligent, I just tried to keep it simple because i thought it would be more appealing. Last time I did an indepth economic one it scared people off  :P

But yeah, I will do alot of revising of the rules tomorrow and hopefully it will be more open to realistic choices by you guys. So you will have to hold your horses and wait for the revision!

You probably can have your stocks  :P

Hurrah for 1,000,000 stocks!

Also, it's probably because if its in-depth, people are intimidated, and if its simple, they yearn for complexity.
