IMPORTANT BITS SUMMARISED:- The structure for this game is being decided. Session times, tools, setting, players are not definite yet.
- If you're interested, post. I'll send you a PM with my various online usernames so we can work things out efficiently.
- I am PROBABLY not going to be GM; rather I am a Session Master - GMing is shared by all players.
- We will probably use MapTool and Hamachi
- We might use Skype for voice, but only if that's practical.
- Setting ideas are spread in the thread; I'll gather them together later.
First session: DATE TO BE DECIDED
The first session will involve getting the right tools running for everyone, finalising the setting, building characters, etc.
People (possibly) Involved:
Hey guys!
Wushu is a rules-light roleplaying game that favours descriptive, creative group storytelling over rolling dice to determine success or failure. I'll summarise the core rules below, but the full rules can be found
here.
1. Principle of Narrative Truth
What you say happens as you say it happens when you say it happens. The game encourages description, so success and failure should occur as is most awesome/dramatic, and dice rolls are a secondary mechanic.
2. Veto
If something doesn't seem to sit quite right (e.g. we agree on a low-tech fantasy game and someone brings out modern pistols), anyone can veto anyone's detail. This includes players vetoing GM descriptions. A veto isn't to crush other people's ideas, but to ensure all players are on the same page, or maybe just to suggest a cooler alternative.
3. Coup de Grace
You don't narrate complete victory till the mechanical (dice) component is resolved. This doesn't mean you're succeeding or failing worse, just that the dice bring the scene to its resolution.
Character building is really easy and kinda malleable, and the dice rules are simple to explain.
I'd like to run a game, possibly in a DF setting or something else, depending on what people are interested in playing. Note that with this game, it's entirely possible for players to have the same influence on the plot as the GM, so it's possible we could agree on vague plot points and then play the game.
Ideally it'd take place over Skype or something and we'd use some tool for dice rolling and sharing images (probably Maptool). For now, though, post interest here, and we'll talk about when people are available and what kind of game interests people.
Here are a few broad setting ideas, of which we may include none or several:
- Dwarf Fortress
- Cowboy
- Space
- Monstrous Horror
- Generic Fantasy
- Steampunk
- Cyberpunk
- Modern
Feel free to suggest your own!
If you wanna read a crazy example that was my first taste of the game, here (don't worry about reading it all):
PART 1PART 2PART 3PART 4I want to try to run my game slightly differently in that we'll all have a say in the plotline in advance.
Hope to hear from you guys soon,
Samthere
