Actually, modding in Styrofoam to make nerf training weapons sounds supreme.
<chemistry_pedant>Nerf products are actually made from closed cell polyurethane foam</chemistry_pedant>

What armor are the dwarves in? If their heads aren't protected than this shouldn't be too surprising, even if it is unlikely.

A man would see that as a difficult challenge.
An elf would see that and despair.
A dwarf would see that and say, "Bring it on."

Another death, same thing. Spear teared the brain. All of them had something in common, they weren't using armor.

This is why you have your dwarves wear helmets in the danger room. I've seen this happen before.

Did you put any armor on your dwarves?

A single leather robe will cover the entire body.

It's cheap and it turns a danger room into a massage parlor.

It depends on how long they're in there. It's essentially inevitable that both lungs will be bruised if you put dwarves in soft armor a danger room for long enough.

You'll want cloaks, rather than robes. Cloaks offer the fullest body protection. And you can have your dwarves wear multiple cloaks at once.

Toady nerfed danger rooms?

Um... Yay?
Nope, they're working as they did before. Traning spears have always been a threat to unarmoured creatures such as pets and children.

I am trying to make chickens lay bees as eggs. So far it only produces a single "Tame Small Creature" when a hen lays bees.
Honestly at the time, I didn't see what could go wrong with crowding 80 military Dwarves into a small room with a necromancer for the purpose of making bacon.

yeah, and they were not wearing face protection, and they got hit in the face from a pointy training spear...  Get them a metal helm, metal cap, and 6 leather hoods.  Or maybe a cloth something to cover their faces.  The other thing to do is make sure your not leaving them there till they get exhausted then pass out.  I've had that happen a few times and each time, they get poked in the head and die.

Danger Rooms no longer work as they did in 31.xx. My fully trained Steel Armor dwarves w/ Cloak have be severely injured inside a Danger Room with medium quality spears.
