Why is this forum section called "Curses?"
« on: February 23, 2012, 02:07:55 am »

It should be renamed to LCS, because all other ASCII games are in "Other Games" and only LCS seems to be discussed here...
It just slightly annoys me every time I visit these forums...

Yeah, this subforum is for all of the Bay12 Curses games, of which there are quite a few actually.

The curses forum is specifically for the non-DF Bay12 ASCII games. The Other Games section, while originally intended for Bay12 projects such as WWI Medic (the second most popular non-DF game) and various "sub games", has evolved from its original purpose into "games not by Bay12Games".

That LCS dominates this forum is just because it's far and away the most popular, and only actively maintained, Curses game in the Bay12 library.

That's a coincidence. It's called Curses because of the Gyp cursing people who complain here.

Maybe it's parasitic. It never loses its flavor because you eventually die from having your nutrients stolen by it.

I love Star Zoo because I can mention it to Grimith and it makes him have a conniption.

He did a screenshot-video hybrid LP of LCS here some time ago, and still shows up on Bay 12 every once in a while. He's made several other LPs not related to Bay 12, but which are all very good. And one of his other LPs was for Star Zoo. It did not go well. I'm pretty sure he suffered some permanent mental trauma from that.

How about a Kobold Quest LP? Flinging deadly insects at people in ASCII.

I think I've actually seen that, and remember him going crazy, yeah.
