But the mob is out at 3:00, and if you start to smash stuff they will steal your sledgehammer. Its really annoying, they keep doing it every time I try.

DARPA's Pet-Proto Robot Navigates Obstacles
Even though DARPA claims that their robots are designed for search-and-rescue missions, I don't think that once the technology is perfected, the US Army will not mount weapons on it and replace infantry with it.
Eventually, by the end of the century, the US Army will replace all humans with autonomous drones, and all American invasions human rights enforcement operations will look somewhat like this (NSFW!)

Fun fact, the main operation system for GB automated drones is indeed called Skynet.

No reason to make humanoid bots though. The droid weaponry they have now suffices. It's just that at this moment it's cheaper to send humans than to send droids, and the supporting infrastructure needed for it.

That's within an order of magnitude of the numbers in a human brain. Certainly getting closer now; though these are more abstracted models, as opposed to the entirely physically based models used by groups like the Blue Brain Project.

My brother downloaded a piano app on his iPad.. thing.  Tried to play chopsticks on it.  It can't play chopsticks because the touchscreen can't handle multiple inputs I guess.  I promptly walked over to the family piano and played chopsticks easily on a device invented a couple hundred years ago just to make sure.

So in some ways, we don't entirely live in a science fiction world after all.
Can't be an Ipad then. IIRC, Apple patented the technology needed to make capacitive touch screens that can register multiple inputs.

And the fact that apple can patent something that is an idea like that is why certain authors should be shot, tortured, and decapitated. I won't mention which ones, but they seem to equate greek gods with people who justify douchebaggery from a fundamental lack of understanding of the motivating drive of human achievement.

Just FYI, Apple was denied a trademark on the term "Multi-Touch" because it was too generic sounding.

Quote from: Chesterton
For, in order that men should resist injustice, something more is necessary than that they should think injustice unpleasant. They must think injustice absurd; above all, they must think it startling. They must retain the violence of a virgin astonishment. When the pessimist looks at any infamy, it is to him, after all, only a repetition of the infamy of existence. But the optimist sees injustice as something discordant and unexpected, and it stings him into action.
