Does anyone know how heroes work in the game?

When you gain land you will probably play out as a ruler, but until then:
*You can use yourself as one population unit to do anything which could be done with said unit.
*You have CHA worth of influence.
*Influence can be used to direct your Ruler's population, or bolster their actions, as well as your own, in some cases.
*While you are expected to help your Ruler at this stage, you can use your influence to move the populaton even against your ruler's whim, but he can block your action by spending an equivalent amount of influence.

The last part wasn't officialy stated by weasel, I just copied the mechanics for when there is conflict between a ruler and a religious leader's control over a single unit.

Pretty much yeah.

In not hero related news, I believe I have finished the new plant generator, no animals yet though, gonna start on that next.  If you want you can try rolling up your own regions/biomes/whatever.

Link can also be found on the op.

Spoiler: example (click to show/hide)

Edit- Finished up Aquatic Creature rolls and fixed up the sheet to give some examples, A pretty normal fish, a crab with horns instead of claws, and some weird monotreme seal thing.  Rolling your own places to help me balance stuff would be appreciated, but not necessary.  Now to work on land creatures.

edit within an edit: editception.  Working on land animals, just got to make the trait chart and I can finish rolling the ones I have so far, still get some wacky stuff, like that snake thing that's 100% mammal (hide and would of given milk if I rolled high enough), I hope it gets quills.

edit again? Yeah, finished up animal traits, and the snake thing became a bat, kangacow became like a big jackalope with an udder, snake became a wyvern, and the carnivore lizard gained super poison.  Things without traits rolled negatives, so they didn't get any.  Probably gonna make a new post so this can actually be seen.

I've done lots of work on the generator as evident by all the edits I made to the earlier post, now i'm gonna work on stone/ore/gems and then I can get to work on actually writing down rules, industries, and skills (which you get as many as your wisdom)

Some stuff that's gonna be changed from what were playing now into then next version-

  • Rolls for stuff, 1d10's
  • Skills that effect said rolls
  • Flatlands now hold 4 industries (orchards, gardens, farms, ranches, pastures, etc. Most of those are the same thing)
Hills hold 2, and mountains are still too messy, though mountains now have stone.
  • Influence is now earned monthly, turns are still weekly.  You make it up with all the new happiness giving items though, called Luxury items
  • Instead of saying what you want to do specifically, you just tell me which hex and whether you want to forage, hunt, fish, or lumber, and you'll get all acquirable items that meet the type, but they'll then be gone for a month.
  • Bonus influence doesn't allow you to acquire more, it simply adds a +n to the roll.
  • Loads of other things

Waiting on... 8 people now?

It's been over 24 hours since anyone's posted in this thread, and only one person since then has posted their turn.  There can be only one of the following happening.

  • I'm over reacting and should give everyone more time, cause hey, other people have lives
  • Everyone's giving up on this game since, what's the point there's gonna be a new one.
  • Everyone hates me.
  • Everyone forgot about it cause it keeps leaving the front page.

I'm leaning for number 3.

I'd say four or ideally, number five: They're too damn lazy.

I KNEW IT! *Cries forever*

No, number 5 is why I haven't already finished the new version.. I can't believe I'm stumped on stone charts.

Should "Coal" (fuel) and "Salt" (spice, meats have to be preserved with spices to last now) be part of stone or ore?  If so then stone should just be stone? or have variables.  Gah.

Two of the four Akethoria players don't get to act this turn. The chruch and inn have yet to be completed.

You've probably told me this before, but I am unsure, thus I will ask again: can any place, even flatlands, contain ores?

Coal technically should be an ore. Salt, stone.

Well, it's called saltstone... So it should be a stone.

And don't add variants in stone. Just colors.

In this version yes, in the next, also yes as long as they rolled stone, then rolled ore when rolling for the 3 types of stone (stone, ore, gems)  Stone is in all three of those, the first being JUST stone, the next two having other stuff.  Mountains in the next version always start with stone to offset the fact that you can't farm on them and they have no bonuses to ecology.

Church and Inn should be done this turn, so they do have turns.  Confusing I know.

Coal technically should be an ore. Salt, stone.

That's what I got, but It'd suck to have a mountain and all you get is spice instead of building materials... can you build with salt?  Maybe..

Well, it's called saltstone... So it should be a stone.

And don't add variants in stone. Just colors.

I don't even have color rolls for Dyes, so I'm not doing it for stone.

... Does that mean that my two population units will be free for me to use?

Also, Micelus, ShootandRun and Dragor23, we should probably plan our turns in IRC, PMs become troublesome with this many people.

It could roll that, it does have 1d4-1 other geological rolls.  So Salt and Stone...  High quality stone? Like marble? Then again HQ stuff gets used up by the populace at a steady rate, which would still make sense statues and nice houses and such.  See I did a lot of work when we discussed stuff, then all of a sudden it stopped and I got stumped.  Back to work.

... Does that mean that my two population units will be free for me to use?

Yep.

I didn't even know there was a new turn.

Just assume Delilah works the farm, I'll let adwarf decide what she does with her 3 influence. Assume that this is the case until there's something more for me to do than just be another pop unit.
