Last details on mines: can another worker be placed in an ore mine to mine plain stone? Is there are difference between the different terrains as far as mines go, other than the presence of ores/stone itself?

I want to do this:
>Build a temple to the four elemental gods of Caldan.
>Personally set up a farm of Shaba Sho'sheara in the northern hex.
>Set up a pasture in the northwestern hex for the Havae Bakar.
Do I have the resources for all of that?

Also, Yoink, if you would be so kind, could you check out the ore in the forest?

1. Rulers are probably unable to use themselves as manpower, only heros can do so, hence your +1 influence.
2. You have yet to create a faith with 4 elemental gods.

In the current version ore and stone are not mutual, you can have ore without stone, so no.  There is no difference in mine construction between flatlands, hills, and mountains (you can't mine water, not that water has any geological features).  However in the next version mountains automatically start with stone as a geological feature, but that doesn't really have much to do with what you asked.  Also in this version stone has a rare chance to actually NOT be viable building material (think marble, granite, NOT mudstone or whatever) and instead be gems (fixed in next version, but I added it in so gems have a chance of actually appearing in game)

To put it simple. No you can't mine stone because you don't have the stone resource.

I want to do this:
>Build a temple to the four elemental gods of Caldan.
>Personally set up a farm of Shaba Sho'sheara in the northern hex.
>Set up a pasture in the northwestern hex for the Havae Bakar.

Ninja'd by azthor.

Ruler's cannot use them selves as pop, they do however work as there own military guard.

So you have to pick either the pasture or the farm.

edit- you can set up a church at the same time as founding a religion, rp wise your simply making an ancient religion "official"

Okay, let me reorganize that.
>Give a speech about the four elemental gods (establish it, but for RP purpouses, the religion allready existed).
>Send some guys to go make the pasture for the Havae Bakar in the north west hex

I would like Yoink to take some guys and build a farm of Shaba Sho'sheara in the north hex. That would be him and some guys, so two influence.

You don't need to influence Yoink, and he doesn't need to influence himself.  he could use his influence to TELL some guys to go build a farm, or you can ask him to run one himself for a while.

IN fact heroes can run there own stuff if the ruler allowed and sell there product to town, but none of you have money systems yet, or really any reason to not just work together for the time being.  later though.. later.

New question: does prospecting automatically reveal all resources present in a given tile or is it possible that it may take more population and/or influence to reveal them fully? Also, who would a population unit rather follow, the prophet of whatever deity they believe in or their actual ruler?

Oh, I Thought he needed to use his influence to do stuff.  I'm not trying to influence him, I'm just asking him to do that.  I guess he can use his other two influence to do whatever he wants, if he goes with that plan.

You know all the resources (plant, animal, ore, stone, etc) of your starting area, when you discover a new hex (if it isn't the same as a previous one) you must send an expedition, which is the same as just doing pretty much anything else, but it'd take more time since there traveling, humans travel 2 spaces a week, so if something's 3 hexes away it'd take them 2 weeks to get there and 2 weeks to get back (they'll need to bring food with them) and even then you won't know what the ore or stone is until you prospect them, so you'd probably build a camp (which work like temp towns 1 pop, 2 pop makes them settlements and destroys the resources below them)

If you have them built, you would have no population left to work with, unless yoink's running one of the farms for you, but then he'd be unable to do anything that would use him as a pop.  Since your on flat land you can build the pasture and the farm on the same plot and use only one pop to run it.. that makes sense.. do that.  I suggest clearcutting the north hex since you've already used up a lot of it's resources.  A week to clear cut, a week to build, a week to gather livestock, 3 weeks til your first harvest of whatever your growing, and after your live stock you can either get eggs weekly or butcher some for their meat (which is 3 or 4 if I recall) but then you'd have to wait a month to get anything from them again (though you would also get their shell, skin, and decorative quills)

What's the point of building the pasture if I can just hunt the things and get the same result?
Actually, since I can put it on a tile with a farm, I get why it's usefull.

New questions: how do churches affect influence, mathematically speaking, and are there advanced religious buildings such as cathedrals? Also, is it safe to assume, from the geographic descrption of my nation, that my sea cliffs have the stone resource?

Okay, so:
>Establish Caldanian religion
>Have some guys build a pasture for the Havae Bakar in the south hex (thats where they were working last turn, not the north hex)

My request for Yoink:  Take some guys and build the farm for the  Shaba Sho'sheara in the south hex.

You gain influence over people who follow your religion ONLY if your the actual leader of the religion, if your a king and your people have a religion you don't get any bonuses if you declare yourself leader of the religion since your already there king (if other countries adopt your religion you do gain sway over them though.  advanced buildings just allow more worshippers, since a small chapel wouldn't be able to hold your entire population and if people don't have a place to worship they tend to stop worshipping.

Your people would gain +1 happiness from having a place of worship big enough to accommodate everyone.  A level 1 church is big enough for population of 5, you can call it whatever you want though (temple, chapel, mosque, etc)

Stone resource means that the stone is a building material (such as granite or marble.) Mountains in the NEXT version of my game will always have stone, but your do not, cause It's apparently out of my absolute power to just give you stone.  So your mountains are made of dirt.  (Plus who digs stones on a cliff? that sounds dangerous)
