Mental note, I think to myself. My cell is clean and tidy, and the guards were not violent-I guess I'm thankful for that.

Seems I've run into what amounts to civilization-industrialized, for certain. I could smell the smoke outside, even with the blindfold. They have books here..even for prisoners. Which means, unless they have a snide sense of humor in relation to the condemned, they must value what knowledge they do have very highly. I would like time to read them all, but I don't have it...

Comments made by my captors indicate a military run monarchical system of government-possibly completely patriarchal...on a good note, at least the possibility of trial suggests a limited constitution, freedom of press? At the behest of the Prince, naturally.

I consider questioning the guards...but, I don't think they'll know much. They've probably heard all the questions before.

Action: I'm most interested in reading the "b] Laws and Ordinances of Hafas City". Maybe a dull read, but I can hopefully glean some information about the people that live here from it.

I've just got to keep my mind occupied for the next hour...and try to figure a way to prove I'm not a rebel. Whoever those are. They'll have my equipment-if presented at a trial, I would hope the recorder might be used as evidence.

I do realize, my fate is likely going to be decided by 'Prince' Malpis. The whims of Nobility are documented as being quite fickle.

Personal Note, I've let my hair down. It can't hurt to be a bit charming.

hmm, it seems that this colony was originally set up with a board of directors. Unless it is like the UK, with both a single figure, and a group of elected individuals governing simultaneously, I would guess martial law was "invited" and never released.

Do we know anything of Hafas Industries?

All we can do is chat with the guard and otherwise cooperate. The alternative is to try to escape, from the middle of an unknown city, with no resources, which would only make this situation worse.

Hell if I know.  Pretty humourous suggestion, but utterly useless in the case of roleplaying, if indeed the whole game world was one whole huge ass field of fruit.

You don't specifically recall any companies called "Hafas Industries", but that charter seems to be at least 30 years old. It may be before your time.

Judgement comes quickly enough. I remind myself not to underestimate him...

I clear my throat.

"Honored Prince Malpis, my name is Heather North. I was apprehended by your guards, during my investigation of Hafas City, and taken here...but, I maintain I committed no willing crime.

Indeed, I have never before traveled abroad in these lands-I was cast away from home, you see, in New Borealis. I was quite unaware of any laws or ordinances in affect here."

note1: why is he asking us, and not the guards why we are here?  note2: pleading ignorance of the law is probably not the best move ....

I think that explaining that you have simply been brought here at gun point with no explanation of what you did wrong would be a better strategy.

But yes, explaining that it was only 2 days ago that we were in New Borealis, and that according to both the laws of New Borealis, and a reasonable interpretation of common decency, I believe that nothing wrong was done.

Act as if we are a guest, and not a prisoner.

Action: I accepted the invitation-did I really have a choice?

I've recovered my recorder-it doesn't seem to be damaged. In fact, it was handled as gently as if they were afraid it might explode if they dropped it.

What's happened is a bit much to recount, but I suppose I'll have the time later...I'm recording this in what I hope is relative privacy-at least a cursory scan has revealed no listening devices in my vicinity.

...

I need to get down to business.

I suppose, the natural regression of society might have spawned many rumors about the inhabitants of New Borealis...most of them bad. Am I an angel or a devil to these people? I've got to find out.

Either way, I don't plan to stay here long. Eventually, they'll realize I'm just a lone woman with no home. At that point, I'll either be a threat to them...or an asset. I don't plan to be either.

Hopefully they'll move me to a better room now. And I'm starving. Not literally-but rations just don't cut it.

Heather North, signing off.

Well, I thank you for an entertaining game, Grek. It was a good experience, while it lasted. I at least had plenty of fun making RP on it. :P

Wait, what?! There are other silent watchers reading this. D:

Dwarmin plays the main character. Though, it was fun, if this is dead.
