Metamaterials.

Holy Earth!

Holy fucking Earth!

A real city. A real city, out in the wastes. With real inhabitants!

You must investigate it. Forget the rambling of a few politicians- this is big. Just wait until your colleagues hear... about... this.

...Okay, pull yourself together. Deep breath. Wipe away the tears. Its okay. Its okay.

Now, park the jeep- a reasonable distance from the gate. Get out, and walk up to the gate slowly. If half the rumours about the wastes are true (which, based on what you have seen so far, they probably aren't), there's a good chance these folks will be suspicious of strangers.
Maybe leave the gun in the jeep.
Okay? Pull yourself together, Heather. Park the jeep, put down the gun, and walk slowly towards the gate.

Knowing all about the old-hat nano-tech, I feel decidedly more curious about the strange meta-material which has caught my eye ahead.

I consider leaving the gun behind, but instead clip it into the back of my belt, not where i draw it on a whim from, so not to appear threatening, but also not attempting to hide it.

I try to think if those spires remind me of anything back at home.

Hell if I know.  Pretty humourous suggestion, but utterly useless in the case of roleplaying, if indeed the whole game world was one whole huge ass field of fruit.

Heather North, supplementary log.

For the record, I have found...a city. Presumbly populated, by the look of it.

I recalled my studies on Metamaterial, as I look on those vaugely familar spires. Electricity arcs between them. Some sort of power generation method?

Well, I've got to find out. then it's decided...I'm going to...

Vote/Park the jeep, put down the gun, and walk slowly towards the gate.

One guard. That's odd, certainly. I'm not afraid, not anymore. I might just put the gun in the jeep...I don't want to give off the wrong first impression.

(Heather North can be heard on the tape, talking to herself, gathering courage. When she speaks again, it's amost with a sense of hope)

It's times like these I think I was born to do this. Signing off.

I'm putting this on the record. I'm speaking to some sort of...guardian? 3 meters tall, constructed of the same meta-material as the city.

I'm speaking to it now.

"Can you render us assistance? We seem to have lost our identification papers..."

Carjacked, only 2 days after getting thrown out of the colony .. can this week get any worse ..
Ask why they "saved" my life from the robot, and is the blindfold needed, as i have no idea where anything is out here anyway.

Erm, is there anything we can do, other than accept the trip, or "resist arrest" while covered and outnumbered?

I hesitate a moment. There's lot of bad things that could happen at this point...but, trying to run or fight will get me killed for sure.

I nod warily.

Action: "I'll go with you, alright? My name is Heather North."

I don't know what's going to happen, but at least they'll know my name.
