How do I make sparring recruits visit the hospital?

I had a sparring recruit get a baby, and the baby instantly have her arm break because of my spike traps, then she died because she did not go to a hospital, how can I get them to visit the hospital?

I don't think babies will be treated medically, ever. Not sure if there's a way around it.

...why would you want that? Are you planning on going for twelve years in that fort so that the baby becomes a productive member of society?

a baby who lived for 12 years in a danger room would make one heck off a dwarf

also, I guess recruits will visit the hospital normally, as long as they are not babies?

This is really a serious issue..
I have close to 2 dozen Dwarfs wondering around in "constant pain" with various injuries and NONE of them ever take time to "rest"
It seems as though, unless it's broken they just tough things  out and never let it heal.
While this is very "Dwarfy" it is also annoying at times.

Sounds like your hospital isn't set up right. Or you've got some sort of mega-beast extract getting passed around.
