THE_SLAYA and I played our game in the training tournament, ending 2-1 in my favor.

A very wacky game, it started with the wood elves getting a blitz. On turn 2, our critical wardancer took a defender down and got cas'd, so we were just left with linemen and no rerolls. Still, we managed to scoop up the ball and run in a touchdown... then get another blitz. Some last minute blocks by THE_SLAYA prevented the score, but we were up 1-0 at the half and receiving.

Five turns of grinding later, and the wood elves have crowdsurfed a couple rats and have two guys marking the ball. Looking good for a win! Then a brave gutter runner dodges between the elves, scoops up the ball, and darts away into the endzone. Guess it's gonna be a draw! Then the skaven get a blitz on the kickoff, rush down the field, and take out one of the two elves left behind. Looks like we're gonna lose after all! But the last elf hero grabs the ball, passes it forward to the LoS, and it's ran out of reach of most of the rats who blitzed into our side. Just like that, we're winning again!

Only rolled three 1's all game, which is why the no-skill, no-reroll lineup was able to not utterly fall apart. A very fortunate win, to be sure.

Matchups for Week 3 of the Training Tournament:
THE_SLAYA - Slaya's Scrabblers vs monk12 - Monk's Meanies
Kanil - Players are Overrated vs ndkid - Unstoppable Immovables
Charmander - Light of Judgement vs i2amroy - The Traveling Doctors

This might look rather familiar with you, what with being a repeat of week one. I think it's been a few posts since I've bitched about Cyanide, so I'll take the time to say "Fuck Cyanide" here.

Hey, guys, one question: is it possible to spectate the matches of the league? I would like to someday join and get to play, but right now I just really want to watch and learn. I got the game a week ago, always wanted to try it and then Steam had that Focus Weekend Deals thing so I had to buy it.

Sorry about my english, I'm brazilian.
Thanks.

w00t w00t vs Naturan Demanto:
6-1

The most surprising thing of this match was only one turn one TD.
The elves ran circles around the strong but slow undead, dodging and leaping onto the ball carrier.

The undead did get -MV CAS on my thrower on the last turn

Thanks for the game Jartol, I only need 73 more TDs and I get a teddy bear!

Battle of the rats concludes 3-1, with the Doomwheels suffering ridiculous quantities of casualties for the second game in a row.

Matchups for Week Four:

Kanil - Skitterscamps vs A Spoony Bard - Doomwheels
THE_SLAYA - My Mummie's Mummies vs ndkid - Morg's Meat Mashers

P3: The wardancer nears the end zone.

U3: One skink gets beside the wardancer, but another falls over trying.

P6: A wardancer knocks over the ball carrier. A lineman picks up the loose ball, but fails the throw to the wardancer. The ball bounces back beside the sideline.

U6: An attempt to push an elf off the field knocks over an elf and a skink.

P7: One skink gets knocked out, another is hurt.

U7: Jerk tries to pick up the ball, sending it off teh pitch. The fans throw it back to near midfield.

P8: Jerk gets knocked off the pitch and picks up a niggling injury for his troubles. The elves pick up the ball and run it in for a touchdown.

U9: Most of the elven line goes down after the kickoff. A skink fails to pick up the ball.

P11: The wardancer runs back to midfield with the ball.

U12: The few skinks remaining try to box out the wardancer. Blocks against elves do little.

P12: The wardancer knocks out one skink, then runs in the touchdown.

U14: A saurus continues to sit out the game, giving eight lizards available to play. A turn gets run off the clock. Lots of elves get knocked down. A skink fails to pick up the ball.

P14: Not much.

U15: A saurus knocks himself over taking down an elf.

P15: Not much.

Thoughts: Well, there's not much to have been done, there. At least the Krox comes back next game.

In the Training League, Slaya's Scrabblers defeat Monk's Meanies 2-1 in a tight game that saw the Meanies forget to actually buy an Apothecary (making the death of blitzer Joe Stalin rather permanent,) use the TV difference that resulted to give an ST potion to Adolf Blitzer (who had a decent game, though like most of the Meanies he failed to crack serious armor,) a riot of Skaven blocking that sent half the Dark Elves to the KO box, all of the Dark Elves come back from the KO box by the second half (making for an even 10v10,) and a quick score by the Meanies followed by a Pitch Invasion that sent everyone's plans to hell and back. Meanies actually got possession for most of that last drive, but struggled to hold on to the ball and ultimately fell one GFI short of the tying score (and make the Meanie coach sorely miss his lack of Juggernaut skill.)

The good news is that the Meanies won 80k despite the L on the record sheet, which should be enough to replace the dead Blitzer and pick up that Apothecary for real this time, and the team is still primed with potential as every player has some bit of SPP (Mehmed "Armenian Massacre" Talat got 2 CAS, enough to level up, and some Lineman caught MVP for a level.) Hopefully the armor holds up better against the Lizards than it did against the Skaven.

The worst part of that game was the fact that I only got 30K to your 80, xD. Which unfortunately means, I need another week to get my rat ogre...

Monk's Marauders bounce back from last week's tie with a 4-1 victory over The Other Kittens. The injuries to the Human side (and the levelups for the Nurgle) got the TV difference down to 180k, netting the Kittens an Igor and some Bloodweiser Babes, and thankfully no Star Players. The first Nurgle drive met the fierce Human wall headon, and Galahad Slodar the ball-retrieval specialist managed to get a blitz on the ballcarrier, causing it to pop loose and starting a scrum that ended when Eomund Tonkai nicked the ball out of the press and ran in the score a turn later. The Marauder defense held up for the end of the first half, and an all out passing attack succeeded in the face of Nurgle warriors rushing the ballcarrier despite the blizzard, giving the Maraduers a 2-0 advantage with 6 turns to play. The AG5 rotter flashed some moves of his own to bring the score to 2-1 fairly quickly, but the Kittens didn't even try to play defense, making for an easy pitch and catch for the third TD. Fourth TD was a similar story as the Kittens ignored the ball and focused on beating on the Humans, dealing very little real damage; a gang foul BH Balkoth the Ogre (who had a stellar day, and reminded me why I keep an Ogre on the roster,) and a blitz very nearly gave Tonkai -AV, but the Apothecary patched him up just fine. The Human Bertolf Blitzer got a kill on a useless Rotter, which I think moves him into the league lead on kills; I'll have to check later.

Tonkai caught MVP for his assorted heroics, the team won 80k to compensate for the losses suffered by the War Chest the last few weeks, and the Fan Factor returned to normal levels. Biggest decision I have now is whether to cut the rookie Lineman I brought in to pad out the ranks; smart coach says "yes, duh, you don't need 15 players on the roster and your TV is already ridiculous," but I have rarely been accused of being a smart coach and I've never cut an uninjured player before...

You only have enough money to buy 15 replacement linemen, and only enough money to replace your most expensive positional just 5 times. You might consider firing him when you're on better financial footing -- what if you suffer a casualty next game?

'course, the real answer is to look at your next opponent and decide if the 50k extra in inducements is going to let him buy something you don't want him to have.

Yeah, when we got to the halftime with a 2-0 score I pretty much decided that winning wasn't gonna happen (though I was still willing to take a score if it presented itself, as with the rotter throw-TD). I mean basically the maximum my Nurgle team could ever score would be 3 points in a half, and of all my games I think I've only ever managed to even score 2 twice (both times when I managed to virtually kill the entire enemy team in the first half). Factor in that at most I probably could have only prevented 1 of the 2 TD's, and overall it just wasn't worth the risk to my stat+ players to attempt to prevent him scoring a bit of SPP; meaning my new goal was to kill Tonkai (who sadly proved just a bit too elusive to catch permanently, due to that dang apothecary :P).

Sadly my fouling luck was absolutely miserable the second half. I threw 2 8-man fouls and a 7-man; all three led by a +STR Nurgle Warrior and none of them even managed to injure the enemy players. In fact the only foul that was successful was the one on the ogre, which didn't even permanently hurt him!

The key point in the game proved once again to be the Marauder's huge amount of skills, since even though we were both rolling fairly similar on the block dice, his stuff was knocking me down and I couldn't knock him down hardly at all.

Also I think this is the first time I've ever actually lost GP from a match, with expenses costing me 20,000 and only netting 10,000 total from the loss.

Light of Judgement 4 - 0 The Traveling Doctors

Once again my team continues in being one of the unluckiest teams in existence; rolling almost double the amount of 1's and 33% more pushes then probability dictates, while rolling well under the average on anything above the halfway point on a roll. At least I had an ogre level up from this game, and at this rate I only need to lose two more games before I can get my fifth ogre!

Also new record, I had the ball make it all of the way to the LoS inside of a cage! With the exception of the one crazy throw I did in my first game, that's the farthest I've ever had the ball make it up the field! Woot!

That was the last game of the TT, so we've advanced onto week four!

Training tournament matchups for week 4:
THE_SLAYA - Slaya's Scrabblers vs Charmander - Light of Judgement
i2amroy - The Traveling Doctors vs Kanil - Players are Overrated
ndkid - Unstoppable Immovables vs monk12 - Monk's Meanies

Edit: The main tournament has also been advanced, on account of it being Tuesday. ndkid/THE_SLAYA was unplayed and set to a draw. I've seen them both around within the past few days, so I assume that a draw is appropriate (or, at least, neither one complained about the other preventing the game from getting played.)

Main league matchups for week 5:
monk12 - Monk's Marauders vs A Spoony Bard - Doomwheels
i2amroy - The Other Kittens vs ndkid - Morg's Meat Mashers
Kanil - Skitterscamps vs Jartol - Naturan Demanto
THE_SLAYA - My Mummie's Mummies vs ank - w00t w00t

Doesn't seem that odd, Tomb Guardians don't start with MB, and you've been playing higher armored teams in the main league (who are also probably harder to knock down.)

One of your rats does seem freakishly violent, though.
