Has anyone become a werebeast yet?
« on: February 21, 2012, 11:59:52 am »

If so, mind filling me in on how exactly you get infected without being killed by the beast? Also, how to even get him to change out of his PUNY HUMAN form in the first place?

(Also, I just slept inside a keep and woke up on the roof. Great. -.-)

I was happily killing werebeast peasants in their lairs when suddenly two in a row were in beast form. Turns out full moons are what you need, and time of day doesn't matter as both were in beast form during the day. You can tell it's a full moon on the top bar of the travel map, it'll look like this:   ()

yeah, wait till full moon, but you have to have a pretty good hero to fight them, or just fight a lot of them to make sure you are actually bitten.  On a side note, i once saw two werebeasts fighting... wreetortoise vs werelizard... tortoise won!!!!

Actually avoiding death while being infected is probably a challenge, yeah. My latest adventurer became a weretortoise but the bite that did it took his whole hand off. The best I can offer is to think of it as a fight with a luck-based objective attached and hope for the best.

I thought you could also do it by drinking werebeast blood...?

Negative. Maybe it works when you drink their blood on a full moon....but I've chugged lots of werebeast blood and not had an effect happen.

Which is kind of off, when you think about it. If saliva from a bite is what transmit lycanthropy, arguably, drinking blood should too.

Does anyone know how the werebeast mechanics actually work for an adventurer? I tried figuring all this out but I became a necromancer and 3 minutes later my save file became corrupted.

Mainly my question is, I know you are forced to transform on the full moon, but can you ever transform at will (like in the "natural abilities" menu)? Also, this is probably a more advanced question, but if anyone has become a werebeast, how does it affect your standing with society? Do they automatically shun you or can you hide it, and if you transform out of sight do people know it's you or can you be incognito until you hide again?

I have not been able to get a were transformation. I had an adventurer get bit by a were pig, then I saved and checked legends, and there was no entry about receiving a curse.  Oddly, he then drank vampire blood, and it didn't affect him; so it seemed he had the were-syndrome.  The next full moon he didn't change.  So, I don't know what happened there.

His companions got bit by werecreatures, and they transformed as soon we fast traveled.

If it didn't break skin the curse might not have transferred. If a poisonous creature just bites you but only bruises, nothing happens. Werecurses might work the same way.
