First thing first. Researchers should come up with things for everyone else to use based on what is needed.
Second. Based on what we have or will have, everyone else uses it for what they need to do/fix.
third. If you dont think that will help, then eather
a. screw yourself.
b. consult among your group what will be needed [preferably through pm's to prevent clutter and confusion] and then come together with a plan of action to be given to the research team or the formatting team to consider.

Not much new progress is made on the radio waves, although the scientist is convinced it is certainly terrestrial in origin. Based on the encryption found on it, the society most likely exists in the early space age.

( A note on x-ray beams with high yield, they become less useful in extremely thick atmospheres especially those with humidity. Concerning focus, if you focused one it would be super accurate (like if you were to laser a specific person) and fatal. If you were to drop focus it becomes less fatal and less deadly the deeper in the atmosphere you go. If you were to attack a troop of soldiers on a mountain you could probably give them all cancer and a nasty sunburn where a person on the beach wouldn't feel a thing. x-rays are particularly effective at cutting through armor and severing electonics (missiles, aircraft, spacecraft). A formidible defence, weather conditions permitting.)
