The captian and the scientist have to go. Lock them in a vacated biolab, say that the virus the scintest was working on got lose and needs to be destroyed, then jetsion the lab into the nearest inhospibatle planet, state that their deaths were a great loss to the cre and replacments will need to be found and trained immeditly.

VETO!

If everyone REALLY wants to be their crazy selves and kill all the humans, be a dictator AI, etcetera, please don't do it now. Humans are essential for building up our infrastructure, and more. If we do decide to go the crazy AI route, somehow, continue to grow but subtly seed our net over anything we can, so that we can pull it shut when it's time for action.

"I'm sorry miss. See that, there and there, those are signs of derails."
"Oh my! Well what can we do about it?"
"Well You'll have to get the thread on track or else they'll just keep spreading and then... Well let's just say it won't be your thread anymore."
"How can I do that?"
"Well Miss, you know the general back and forth that goes on in a thread?"
"Yeah."
"Well everyone making the back and forth in the thread neads to realize the joke isn't funny anymore."

the joke isn't funny anymore

If they can stay in one area and survive off the land that way, then it'll be much easier to adapt human skills to them. If not, well it'll be a long, hard workload.

Two: Give them some tools that, if they can figure them out, are useful to them. That's testing their problem solving and such skills.

And three: After getting some sort of communication that can handle this, attempt to teach them useful skills like herding, farming (seaweed? Depends on what their diet is, can be abstracted) and construction. That's testing their learning skill, to see if teaching them is even possible. Test many ages, if the adults can learn woo, that'll jump-start the civilizing that much sooner, if only the kids, then it's a long-haul work.

>Being secretly constructing anti-human nanomachines to be used in the event of an attempted shut-down.

VETO? that is quite stupid, why should the humans shut us down? Because they fear us of course, at the moment the only thing that gave them worries were insane experiments on birds, which is not a reason for them to kill us. Soo, producing anti-human nanomachines will only end up in them finding out and being even more inclined to shut us down. Besides our Directives say SAVE THE HUMANS, not KILL THEM. Just for once, let us follow our directives and do something useful...
