I remember planetary defense being a top priority currently.Would you rather wear a t-shirt and no pants or would you rather wear pants and no t-shirt ?
Planetary defense doesn't need to be a top priority. We haven't encountered any agressive aliens yet(except for the seamonster, but I doubt that one'll come over here.

We have nuclear warheads/ mass drivers/ a small fleet. At that point I'm not spending all my time at a technology that is inefficient, improbable to work, likely to hit our own soldiers, easily deactivated, and unneeded.

Really Tesla coils cost lots of energy, don't effect vehicles( Faradays cage) are hard to steer, and tend to be large and therefore targetable from space

. If we lost space we're probably done for anyway. The enemy could just drop heavy weigths on our bases whitout ever coming inside the atmosphere, let alone our tesla coil range. Any ground defenses should be cheap/ light / small and easily moveable.

I think ebber and xeron should both take like 10 minutes. This is starting to look like the beginnings of a fight.

You won't ever get to use any ground defense systems. If the enemy is somewhat competent they'll just bomb the place into the ground from orbit.

Give me one situation in which that Tesla Coil of you will actually be usefull and I tell you how you can do it cheaper or why the enemy won't act like that.

Maybe you should float your platform with a lighter than air gas. Doubt the seamonsters will be able to get it when it's floating several 100 meters above sealevel.

Yeah. That is a better idea. If the civies aren't to broken up to try again we should do this.

Just make sure it's made from a rather though material( We don't want any of the bird things accidentally popping it) and give it stabilisors or something. Or at least attach the humans with ropes.

>Check what religion the colonist want. Warn him, that violent religions, religions, that would harm colonists, the colony, the avians or general the process of this mission, are not tolerated.

> Change the colony layout for a more arcology-like infrastructure, for fighting the housing shortage.

>Ask captain to introduce police bots and/or human policemen.

>Check health status of the colony. Build a hospital and a pharmacy, just in case.

>Introduce "walking in the wasteland" program. Humans can get space suits! And can dwell the surface of Aries, for fun and profit.

Whatch out with this though. DOn't want anyone getting lost and running out of air. Or getting killed by an automated mining drone or something. Have them walk through predetermined secured paths to let them see the continued terraforming.

Spoiler: EDE (click to show/hide)
Spoiler: IDE (click to show/hide)
[spoiler=RD]>-Continue the algae management plan
-Use a retrovirus to modify the excisting algae to be easier to use. ( Ie Less focus on growth, more focus on easiness of being refined)

-Check what the future climate of Aries will be ( Ie calculate future oceans location/ rainshadows and such)
       - Seed planet with cyanobacteria and other to create a stable microenvironnement
       - Place plants in relevant future biomes( No Rainforests in futuree deserts and such)
       - Find a piece of to be flooded land that hasn't flooded yet and place a hydroelectrical power plant there

- Tech
     -Nano assemblers
-Continue with the improbable and probably impossible Tesla beam.[/
-Strong magnetic generators( For magnetic anti rad fields, Microparticle shields bullet deflection, and cloacking ships)
      - Design a very strong pod to locate the Uv senders.
      - Design a cheap to use multi functional small drone.
       -Quantum computing
-Work on nuclear fusion. ( We have giant laser lenses, this should be trivial)
      spoiler]
Maybe add a few things:
a) Small drones: capable of being equiped with various tools. These can be used as military drones( Both infantry and ship vs ship)  police drones and repair drones.
b) Add laser point defense to techs.
c) Up the priority of both militairy tech a little
