The potential vampire??
« on: February 21, 2012, 07:19:58 am »

With the new update, I started playing dorf fort again, and found out that vampires tend to have big histories and many kills. Well... check this fellow out:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

His history is somewhat clean for the world length (the world generation was 150 years long) but his kill count.... well...

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

The scary thing is he sounds legit, but at the same time that is a lot of kills and fortresses he has been through (no other dwarfs in my fort at the moment have this kind of history). 3-4 months have passed with no signs of vampirism...

But I don't seem to learn. He is currently my militia commander. Now when he DOES get revealed as a vampire, if he ever does, well my fort is kinda screwed. He has the most combat experience of all. His son also made it into my fortress, and became a pheasant after a few months. He has some minor combat experience as well.

But Lorbam's skills haven't raised at all since he arrived, and he has been doing lots of things since he arrived (mainly butchering things that my hunter killed). If I am correct, vampires skills are high, but capped. So does he sound like a vampire? Or is he just a kicka$$ dwarf with an interesting history?

Sorry about the small pics btw. For those who can't read it though, he has 62 kills.

Looks like a hunter/military guy.

Vamp skills aren't frozen, their attributes are.

Vamps usually have a false identity btw, they aren't going to show you they've killed 300 sentients :p

That sounds a lot less like my guy
I hear if you try to change their nickname, it won't work. Is this true (or WAS true because I am still playing on the initial vampire release version)?

EDIT: If the above is the case, I tried changing his nickname and it changed. So it just sounds like a dwarf with some good military experience (swordsmanship specifically)

Seriously guys, I don't mean to be rude, but we need to stop having so many new vampire threads on the front page constantly. It's a little bit frustrating when all the good stuff gets buried by them. Plus, slightly rude to be in such a hurry to announce your thing so as to not care to browse two pages for previous ones.

It is said knowledge is like a foul-smelling herb. It must be cooked well and thoroughly with experience to make it palatable. A young scholar's knowledge is therefore not only worthless but disgusting. -- In Dwarf Fortress you have another paradigm. Gather as much of that smelly herb as you can and toss it at your enemy, fracturing his skull through the +capybara man leather cap+.

A tiny, foul-tempered humanoid creature that dwells in the evil mountains. They are known to enjoy drinking liquor and will take any unguarded supplies of booze.
