How do I kill him? I can't target him with my squads. Currently I have him locked up in a room. I want him dead!!! The bastard killed my best miner!

Make him stand under a raised drawbridge and lower it on him.

there is a little problem in putting him to rest after he is smashed, so unless you want a still blood-sucking vampire ghost, wall him in somewhere

IF you walled him in then dug a huge shaft underneath him, then collapsed something through the floor would that not kill him?  (Or just put him in a room with a retractable floor above a huge fall too, but that doesn't sound nearly complicated enough.)

Edit:  Could put silver spikes the bottom too.  Which could then be attached to a lever which your dwarfs could then repeatedly pull until he's dead.  No?

Seal him in a small room with relatively weak spike traps on the floor. Connect the spike traps to a nearby lever. Use a fortification to allow the lever puller to view the vampire.
Optionally add a window on the lever puller's side of the fortification and flood the room with water. Additional anti-flood precautions maybe advisable.

Note that flooding the vampire will not cause it to die. However, the spikes will release its blood into the water, which you can then build a well over and use to convert other dwarves into vampires ^_^

but yeah, to kill it, a spike trap with a repeating lever is probably your best bet.

I killed my first one by dropping a mountain on it. to be perfectly honest, I was going to drop the mountain anyway, so... killing two birds with one stone. one very, very large stone.

I'm using my vampire to explore the caverns. Presumably there'll be something dangerous that may kill him. If not i'll just wall him in.
