You can also edit your world generation to remove a number of rejects- go to the bottom of the world gen settings and set all the "minimum" values (minimum mountain biomes, minimum tundra tiles, ect..." to zero.

Alternatively, open up the world painter and you can manually place a single tile or two of high-elevation terrain in otherwise empty ocean.

You'll probably still need to make it ignore all rejects, but it might go faster if you do that first.

If you use a mountain instead of a volcano then it creates a slightly larger island with the chance of Civs, mine currently only has goblins; which strangely I am allowed to start as, even though I have no mods installed. Should be interesting.

Turn off "mountain caves" too since you'll have no mountains.

Incidentally, is there a reason to have any history at all in worldgen?  Mine seems to run very slowly due to constant megabeast/ titan clashes.

Oh yeah, and don't try to extract a detailed map.  It occured to me too late that I'd be waiting for 10 minutes while extracting a huge expanse of sea.

I think I might even have more megabeasts than the original monster island... at least, lairs seem to be so tightly packed I can never fast travel.  I also almost immediately met a huge group of giants out in the open.

Heh, yeah my goblin Boro Horrorgripped, not sure how it happened, got jumped by a Hydra . An epic battle ensued in which Boro had his arm torn off, and thus lost his sword, certain of his death he fell back to his last resort: a copper dagger and his (lack of) skill in wrestling. by sheer luck alone he managed to grab hold of the hydras third head with both his legs, repetitively stabbing said head and any other that came close enough. The hydra, becoming enraged, broke Boro's grip and bit his left leg, shaking him around and ultimately tearing the leg off. Both creatures where worse for wear; Boro, missing two limbs and bleeding profusely; and the Hydra, with several fractured skulls and multiple neck wounds. The Hydra then charged, Boro rolled out the way and thrust up with the dagger: striking the hydra in the heart and opening a major artery. Heads continued to snap at  Boro, who again thrust up stabbing the Hydra in the lung. Both tumbled down together, all was silent. Boro, mortally wounded, crawled out from the tangle of bodies triumphant. The Hydra, named Zenod Calledsculpts, had bled to death; unfortunately so too had Boro.

Well, using the Worldpainter I got a kobold-only world by chance. Started an adventure here:

No more Vanod? Aw man, I was at least hoping we got to see his final battle.

I generated an evil world, but my adventurers so far haven't been Vanods. The last one spawned right next to 6 undead hydras.

Tried the gen parameters, but my adventurer doesn't count because it's a dalek.

Well... I made a world too.  And, erm... this happened.

Not... er... really sure what I should do, really.

And yes, there are more.

Yeah, I tried telling them I just wanted to borrow some sugar, but... they decided to attack me.  There were twelve of the fuckers, and ettins are hard to kill.  I ended up having to draw them outside (it's raining pungent filth) and kneecap them.  Some of 'em started to run away too.

Sadly, I ran into a few too many minotaurs.  18, to be exact.  Of course, the first 12 were cake, but they cornered me.  The trick with spears though, is to carry two for when one gets stuck.
