Ghost arrives as migrant
« on: February 20, 2012, 02:03:14 pm »

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

It makes sense since it's a forlorn haunt and it is following another monk, who arrived as a migrant from an abandoned fortress. I'm pretty sure it didn't follow him in the other fort, but just hung where it drowned clearing the aquifer.

(I am building a monastery devoted to necromancy and vampirism, this time I decided not to go for an evil area since it makes capturing and deploying a necromancer redundant, and therefore less fun)

So, you made a fort, someone died, and became a ghost, then you abandoned.

You made another fort, and one of your migrants was the ghost?  Seems "migrants are historical figures" doesn't have many checks for accuracy.  Either way, this is glorious.  Can you slab him?

Perhaps this should be retained, to remind us overseers of our past mistakes to be more cautious, lest  we mess up that badly again. Or at least force us to try and deal with the fallen, lest they become annoying little pricks at a new fort.

Although is it odd this thread makes me imagine dead soldiers return as ghosts to defend thier positions for eternity?

I had a second one arrive and no, I can't slab them, although I can slab a bunch of other, random dwarves not in my fort.

Good thing I left no angry ghosts behind when I abandoned

Yeah, an abandoned fort with no angry ghosts...

Oh, you meant something else?

I've had this happen to me twice as well.  I swear it was the same ghost both times too, as it was on the same world, and they were both gem cutters..

Nah, it's only haunted if he deletes the saves and they keep appearing.

That'd be pretty cool actually. Scary, but cool.

A more interesting question...

Do these ghastly haunts spontaneously do labors, and or, can they also be "re-killed"?
(If they can be rekilled.. do you get a ghost of a ghost?)
