"A-HA! Our command vehicles outnumber their T-80Us! CHARGE!"

But yeah, I wasn't able to add (Col.) Umiman in-game as a friend using Col. umiman, only with umiman.

Also, my steam ID is Oliolli.

You guys make me want to buy this soooo much. But, bah. I don't even know if I'll be able to play MP with a 2 second lag. At the very least, is it possible to play with serious lag? Or is there too much micro?

Basing on those images, is there strategic zoom?

Ayup. All the UI settings are almost identical to Ruse.

You can also shift-click like Supcom to queue up orders.

I'll update my post with the list of user names once I get home-which I am very excited to do...
I want to reexamine my NATO deck...

I may put the chausser famas into it in place of SAS... I have green jackets for the special forces/recon role already with heli insertion, and my SAS have not seen much AA action anyways. The reason I want the new cheap inf is because I find sustained defense against PACT infantry spam to be difficult. I use panzergrenadier as NATO and while they are superior in a proper combined arms setting, when I doing deep woods fighting their AT becomes less valuable and less important... So in that scenario it would be nice to have a cheap inf unit to throw into the meat grinder to defend against polish inf spam. Heck, last night I actually watched a polish inf spam overwhelm my entrenched flame throwers! I actually ran out of recruitable flame units, and while they destroyed unit after unit of the enemy inf, they gradually were worn down and overrun themselves... And my own inf were too expensive to properly throw into the mix as a counter.... So I need access to cheap infantry as NATO... Which goes against my main doctrine: expensive infantry, cheap tanks:-)
Alternatively I may get rid of my stinger infantry. I like them for command vehicle defense, and I bring them in in bradleys which I like to use on my front... So I may instead just put Bradleys into my deck by themselves and get rid of the stinger inf to free up space to put in the cheap inf....
Just thinking out loud... Errr, in text.

Does that work for move orders? Do they regroup at waypoints? Is there an indicator where a group is moving too?

Chaosgabe: No, you don't actually know they're doing the queued orders which is kind of weird. So you have to click them and remember for the most part. It does work for move orders though. As far as I'm aware, it works for everything. So you can chain a bunch of "move behind you" commands to get your tanks to reverse instead of turning around. And yeah, they regroup.

----------

Goron: Hrm... I don't know if I would personally classify the FAMAS troops as "cheap" infantry (since Motorstrelcki cost only 10... but FAMAS costs something like 30) but I will affirm that they are extremely good. Almost spec ops level of damage dealing. You're just not going to be spamming them out at the same level.

I personally use just the Chasseurs (cost 20 with VAB) with regular rifles because my role for them is to smash into tank lines and use their RPGs to nuke them at close range. I tossed out the rifles for that role. For forest clearing I use a combination of infantry recon (either Rep 2e or SAS) and a Zippo behind them. The Rep 2e have AT grenades which is excellent at nuking tanks in the forest whereas the SAS have flashbangs which instantly rout anything, including tanks. They can't kill tanks though.

----------

To deal with infantry rushes, I recommend you not respond with infantry yourself. Countering spam with spam is generally inefficient tactically as the enemy already has an advantage in that front as he was preparing for it the whole time. What I recommend you do is send the cost 15 tanks to the front line in groups of 4 or 8 with the flame tanks to the rear. The hyper cheap tanks are normally useless at everything except providing strong enfilade fire, which is what you need against the fast moving APCs that infantry come in. And when you lose them, it's not a particularly big deal. You should also reverse your tanks when you see APCs coming towards you and don't stop reversing until they're all dead. Anything with autocannons will also rip them to shreds, so look into the Luchs, Rardens, more AA, etc.

In the field I find countering PACT inf with inf to be quite effective... My vehicles destroy the carriers while my own inf decimate theirs... Since mine have always been quality they almost always win in a straight shoot out even against superior numbers. Remember, I am talking about using superior NATO inf against deliberate crap pact inf.
My main problem area is wooded, prolonged infantry battles. Normally I'd just pull back but some times other conditions prevent me from doing so in a safe manner.
That said I like the idea of utilizing recon inf with the zippos behind. I normally used the recon/spec forces as independent groups but I don't see why I can't use them as the eyes for my inf(and flame tanks) in those situations. Thanks for the tip.

The AI has another way of dealing with enemies hiding in forests which I think is superior. It takes recon vehicles with autocannons and drives them outside the forest. Their vision is superior to the forested troops and it just completely crushes them without resistance. You can do this with the Luchs or the Spartan or anything along those lines.

I haven't had much success in replicating this tactic (even though it's been inflicted on me so much), but you could try that. Or play the final campaign mission.... yeah... you'll see the AI completely nuke all your forest units with this tactic.

Had a rather interesting game yesterday where my score count was higher than everyones, including my enemies, combined. My direct opponent went for the "Buy small amounts of really expensive arties, and 2 Havocs, and let them all die, then send in a load of tank destroyers to kill my infantry...

Some people...

Y NONE OF U ONLINE WHEN I AM???

I blame me living in Aussie...

BTW, had a 3 Pact vs 1 NATO match on Three Miles Island map. I was the NATO one. Did heli rush, fully deployed the first two variants of Cobra, Heavy Hog, and the second variant of Lynx TOW. Ended up with Major Victory, 6000 points vs theirs 2000 points. I got their command vehicles killed fast. :D
