Religious Water Buffalo?
« on: February 20, 2012, 01:37:53 am »

Twinklefruit was a Water Buffalo that lived in my fortress. She was born in 372 of Unknown Parentage, and came to my fortress with my dwarven group.

In the Summer of 377, my fortress came under a massive zombie invasion, and thanks to a mining accident a few months earlier, the zombies flooded through a breach, avoiding my traps entirely.

In the ensuring fight, Twinklefruit bravely struck down a zombie dwarf.

I would later abandon the fort, after the zombie invasion left me with 13 dwarves, most of them too injured to stand and dying of infection...

When I checked the legends, Twinklefruit had her own entry, detailing her killing of the zombie.

But farther down the entry was a note of related historical figures...

"Shodec the Charity of Saving, object of casual worship"

Shodec is a human goddess in my world, she is associated with mercy and murder.

So anybody have any idea how I ended up with a devout Water Buffalo?

EDIT: I also found a Yak that came with the human caravans that is an ardent worshiper of another human god, along with a few Bulls and a Horse that all worshiped different human gods. I think some of these animals were members of the human civs, so I guess that makes sense, but I'm pretty sure Twinklefruit was a dwarf water buffalo, I'm not sure why she was worshipping a human goddess.

"I am Twinklefruit! Crusader-knight of the dwarves! Thy petty husks shall not stop me, O kidnapper of children, O defiler of socks, O lord of elves and Goblins! Thou shalt meet thy match when ye fall upon my hooves, and I shall give ye mercy, and then run ye through. I shall spill thy blood upon the fields, that the plump helmets and grass may grow ever-bountifully! For I am worshiper of Shodec, and her blessings are upon me. I wage a holy war against thee, and all of huskkind, and none shall pierce my fur. Thou shalt surely die."

:o I have no freaking idea.
