Im also rooting for the werecreature.
 - awesome (ok, i admit being kinda picky about what creature to be, werehamsters are kinda hilarious...depends on playstyle)
 - doesn't really interfere/mess up your stats (no attribute lock, no speed decrease)
 - you have to keep an eye on the moon if you mind slaughtering witnesses because you accidentally transformed in the middle of the meat-market in some city, but during the beasty-time, its hella fun to bite stuff
- FULL regeneration (i can't stress how awesome this is, if a vamp loses his legs, hes even closer to a leech...forever!  werebeast just has to wait for the next full moon)
 - no drawbacks (even helpful) when getting infected right away - if you don't start as demigod, chances are you are more beef when transformed, with legendary stealth and stuff - makes a nice start. as a vamp, if you haven't superhuman attribs, you kinda lose potential.
- material weakness is a thing to keep in mind, but if you search for a while in some bigger world, you'll find some with weakness to steel - which is pretty rare, so you're quite safe

btw, has one of you guys ever got a werecurse that transforms to a creature with horns/antlers? can you use them in combat if you get some? did anyone do any science about the differences of werecreatures, like scales (weriguana /me) vs. fur protection, combat options and stuff?

I've been a wereelk before.  You can't use your antlers, but your hooves make kicking deadly enough.  I don't know if there are any other kinds of werecreatures that have special, extra-bodypart attacks though.

Weremammoths require some !!SCIENCE!!

Also, is there a way to make it so that a modded animal has a chance of being used for a randomly generated werecurse?

None that I know of.  The best you can do is make multiple custom werecurses with different material weaknesses, but all referencing the same creature.  It almost certainly won't use all of them unless you have a 1050 year large world or something like that, so it should be close enough.

You should be aware that those are two completely different things.
otherwise, follow HugoLumans steps, the first two being the necromancer-part.

RadHazard: as a weriguana, i had four distinct scratch attacks, i assume because of claws on all four limbs...the rest was the usua stuff, two punch/kick, one bite.

Interesting.  Has anyone else been a werecreature with extra attacks?

Can't you become a werecreature husk?

Upon looking at the raws, spoilers follow

It is said knowledge is like a foul-smelling herb. It must be cooked well and thoroughly with experience to make it palatable. A young scholar's knowledge is therefore not only worthless but disgusting. -- In Dwarf Fortress you have another paradigm. Gather as much of that smelly herb as you can and toss it at your enemy, fracturing his skull through the +capybara man leather cap+.

I also took a look at some generated raws, and noted that the body size actually varies from werebeast to werebeast, here being weremammoth: [BODY_SIZE:0:0:9000000]
werecat: [BODY_SIZE:0:0:83000]

I'm not too familiar with the raw combat mechanics, but i assume it should be fun to charge as a weremammoth.

Edit: I just found a weregila myself in the raws. yep, poisonous bite. which is kinda...redundant, since the bite also infects with the curse. whatevers.
the only other thing worth noting is that the scales are not only in the description, but actually there - so if at some point natural armor influences fights, that would be a nice little tank boost.

Regarding werecreatures:

Is a bite confirmed to always transmit the
  • thropy?

Is the transformation instantaneous, or will it not occur until the next full moon?
