Travel through time; Save the forum (freeform)
« on: February 19, 2012, 09:59:32 pm »

This is a freeform game, inspired by the events known as The Great Forum Derp of 2012

The people of Bay12 frantically chattered in the meeting room. The previous hour's events had brought despair and joy as the forums were returned to its healthy state. But the Bay12vers needed an explanation. What had caused this almost catastrophe?

Suddenly, the large screen lit up. All fell silent as the Great Toady One made his proclamation.

"Two and a half hours ago the Bay12 Forums suffered a major crash. This incident brought the server to it's knees and for a time, rolled it back to it's state of being from three years ago.    ...This was no mere crash gentledwarfs."

A graph popped up on the screen.

“Directly before the crash occurred, a timequake was detected, originating from the date of February 19th 2009. As you may have noticed, this also happened to be around the date that the forum rolled back to.  Evidence suggests that this quake was no accident. Readings indicate that a malicious entity was responsible for this occurrence. With the specific intent of permanent destruction of the forum!”

A gasp rose up out of the crowd of forum goers

“It is for this reason that I now give you this assignment.”

A door opened up beneath the viewing screen. Those standing closest to it could see some sort of portal at the end of the corridor

“Bay12vers, your mission, should you choose to accept it; is to travel back in time to the day of the quake. Once you have done so, you are to locate the source of the time quake, find out why and how did it cause this, and prevent it from doing any further harm to the forum.”

“Good Luck Bay12vers, and may Armok bring you success in this endeavor.”

"I am Skyrunner, and I shall join this adventure! Everyone with me, TO ARMS!"

I make sure I bring my debuggers, my surge graphs, and a good old sword.

Alright, lets go!

I'll bring my chainmail  (and chainmail-making supplies) and a reusable way to summon the blast from my avatar in case we need a wide bombardment of lightning or magic.

It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.

I grab a Jian, a backpack full of generic supplies and note-taking stuff, and a special transmitter they'll allow those in range to access the networks of 2012 and filter out all my money to remove any of it that was produced after 2009.

"Let's do this!"

I charge into the portal

The Phantom walks forward, staff in hand book in the other.  He calmly strides through the portal, and on the other side is:

And Pokeballs that integrate elven cage technology into a throwable, portable package, in case we need to catch bugs.

I summon up my robes and wizard hat from the depths of my Kindle before pulling out the Necronomconion. I press the Home button on my kindle and it turns into a AK-47

While I examine the Space Adventure stuff I realize that I forgot to bring my chocolate bars.

Quickly I rush back through the portal to the present day and grab them. While I'm at it I stop by the newly made IT'S A BOMB forum game, snatch up the bomb , and take it with me, handing a duplicate over to the ninja's who try to steal it.

I make sure to check supplies, rations, bow and arrow set, and teddy bear before striding through the portal.

The Bay12ver's marched through the portal, and found themselves within the Space Adventure thread. Immediately their communicators began to beep.

"Hello? This is Threetoe. Do you hear me?"
