Sorry to bring it out, but in comparison, is it wrong to say that ASCII battles are more epic than Elders Scrolls? Reading about situtations seem more gruesome than actually seeing it. My mind exaggerates the bloodsheds and gory massacres.

The way of imagining what's going on is the main highlight of this game in my opinion.

I feel exactly the same. Battles in DF can't be matched by any other games. Yet.

Ah hell yes, that story is basically a perfect analogy for Dwarf Fortress in general. You lurk about making your way along at your own pace, not much happens, maybe you have fun looking at what there is to see, but nothing tremendous is going on.

Then, bam. You're in the thick of it. And it is glorious.

Exactly like that.

Shame though, I kinda gave up when I noticed the latest version didn't fix the respawn issue. I had just killed a room full of thugs, rested and woke up surrounded by the very same guys I had just gotten rid of. I fought 'til the bitter end, but my adventurer died. Never got to return to town with my goodies, but it was a great run! Probably my best adventurer yet.

My first mummy was one-shoted by decaptation before it could rise undead, the second... well i gave up...
