Crap, is that what happened? I started a fort and, like a year later, I start seeing zombies pop out of everywhere! Next thing I know, half of my population (animals included) are zombies! I tried to find a Necro but I couldn't find him.

Then I went into adventure and found him. F*cking bastard -_-

Doesn't the well clean the water of all contaminates though?
For Armok's sake! People keep saying this, let me say for all posterity that dwarves drink contaminated water if it's from a well, the wells do not clean the water.

Maybe this confused me because wells will desalinate water. I assumed that also meant they would remove other contaminants.

They don't desalinate water either, your Dwarves still drink it regardless ::)

I've never seen them get sick from drinking it though. Am I missing the point?

'...complained about the nasty water lately'.

Anyway, is there a sure way to find the necromancer?

It wasn't even possible for a dwarf to get sick by eating something until this update, they got bad thoughts from drinking contaminated water but that's it.

EDIT: retracted comment. OPPOSED_TO_LIFE isn't a vampire token. Maybe you can have a 100% vampire fort? Needs testing!

So, DF:VD adds endlessly reanimating undead, vampires and werecreatures... -->

Ok So i killed the vamp using a spike trap. Made a nice pool of blood. Filled it with water and am now building a well.

I think im going to ban all booze and clean wells to get things going.

I have a save of the world a few mins before this if any 1 is interested.

If you're going to turn everyone into vampires you're going to want to seal someone in their room with lots of food and booze.

Lock them into a room at the bottom of your fortress. Drop all corpses of anything down in the necro-pit. Hook up the entrance of this place to a lever.

Instant zombie apocalypse lever.

And yes, if you have to ask why one would create such a thing, you're missing the point.

This. It's Operation F*ck the World all over again. :D

Do Vampire baby/child grow? cause i now have  about 40 of em.

I took your advice and put one dwarf/wit child in a containment room. Hes got a bed a table a chair and a quantum amount of beer.

All in all i have about 115 vampires with 10 dwarfs left to convert.

edit:
Do book keepers/managers have to leave their room to do their work?.

I had trouble finding my necromancers too, until they were about 10 feet from my main entrance.

Even worse one of them was a serpent woman, who upon being attacked dodged into a nearby lake, and stayed there. Nobody could reach her, since she was underwater, and being a serpent woman, I guess she could either swim or breathe water just fine...

Didn't stop her from animating stuff though...

If all your dwarfs are vampires, do you lose?
People are reporting that they don't but I haven't personally done it yet. (Vampires are avoiding me, I think someone told them about Realmclasps.)
You do lose. Someone embarked with 7 undead dwarves and the fort instantly crumbled.
By undead, do you mean zombies or vampires?
